Yagu is a male human.
Timon and Pumbaa visited Japan so they could become sumos. Under Yagu's tutelage, Pumbaa trained extensively, while Timon relaxed and left the hard work to his friend. Eventually, Yagu inspired Timon to help his friend in a fight against the mightiest sumo, and the two emerged from the fight victorious.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Yagu lived in Japan.[1]
Training Timon and Pumbaa[]
While visiting Japan, Timon explained to Pumbaa that they must become sumo wrestlers, as he believed that sumos got treated like royalty. The two friends journeyed to a building run by Yagu, who was said to be very wise.

Yagu tells Pumbaa that he is ready for his first test.
Upon meeting Yagu, Timon explained that he and Pumbaa would like to be sumos, as they had been partners for a very long time. Yagu made Timon and Pumbaa wear Mawashis, then fixed Pumbaa's hair to make it more sumo-like. Timon decided to go to a spa, where he found food and other royal treatments.
Meanwhile, Yagu taught Pumbaa how to catch a fly that was buzzing around them. After Pumbaa succeeded, Yagu proclaimed that the warthog was ready for his first test. Pumbaa went to Timon, who had just had a massage, to let him know that they were ready to do the first test together as a team. However, Timon suggested that Pumbaa start without him, as he wanted to continue relaxing.

Yagu scolds Timon for enjoying himself during Pumbaa's punishment.
The first test Yagu revealed to Pumbaa was to fight the mightiest sumo. While the sumo wrestler fought Pumbaa, the warthog repeatedly visited Timon to see if it was his turn to be trained to be a sumo, but Timon continued to relax. Later, Yagu scolded Timon for enjoying himself while Pumbaa trained by himself. Hearing the master's words, Timon grew worried and resolved to save his friend.
After Timon and Pumbaa fought off the sumo wrestler and defeated him, Yagu told Timon that now that he had proven himself, he and Pumbaa were ready for the next challenge, which was to fight off a giant monster. This made Timon and Pumbaa flee the building to go to Borneo to become volcano jumpers, while Yagu bowed to the audience.[1]
