Uru was a female lion. She was the queen of Pride Rock who preceded Sarabi. She was the mate of Ahadi, with whom she had two sons: Mufasa and Taka.

When a drought devastated the Pride Lands, Uru left the kingdom to search for a new source of food and water. Eventually, she found a lake on the western edge of the Pride Lands, which saved many Pride Landers from thirst.

Biography

Early life

Uru lived in the Pride Lands. She was a member of Ahadi's pride. At some point in her life, she became mates with Ahadi, and the couple had two sons: Mufasa and Taka.[1]

Drought

When a drought devastated the Pride Lands, Uru left the kingdom in search of a new source of food and water. Meanwhile, Ahadi stayed behind to tend to the Pride Landers and take care of their sons. Eventually, Uru located a lake on the western edge of the Pride Lands, and many Pride Landers were saved from thirst.[1]

Legacy

Rafiki told the story of Ahadi and Uru to their great-grandson, Kopa.[1]

Personality and traits

Uru was brave, dutiful, and selfless, as she was willing to leave her family behind in order to save the Pride Lands from a drought.[1]

  • Uru's name means "diamond" or "monitor lizard" in Swahili.[2]
  • Scar's mother is mentioned in The Lion King when Zazu comments, "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?" No name is stated.[3]
