―Timon[src]

Timon is a male meerkat.

When a young Simba flees his home, Timon and Pumbaa take him in and teach him about their worry-free lifestyle. Years pass, and Simba grows up with his friends.

One day, a strange lioness is hunting Pumbaa. Timon tries to help him, but they both are cornered. Simba intercepts the lioness just in time. Moments later, he recognizes her as his childhood friend, Nala, and the two lions head off together, much to the chagrin of Timon and Pumbaa.

The next morning, Timon and Pumbaa watch as Simba takes off to return to his home, and they decide to follow him. In the Pride Lands, they provide a distraction for the hyenas so Simba and Nala can sneak in unnoticed. Later, Timon and Pumbaa take part in the Battle of Pride Rock, fighting against Scar and his hyena army. Afterwards, Timon and Pumbaa look on as Simba takes his place as the rightful king.

Months later, Timon and Pumbaa watch as Simba's cub is presented to the animals of the Pride Lands.

Biography

The Lion King

Timon and Pumbaa sing "Hakuna Matata", during which they teach Simba about their worry-free way of life

Timon and Pumbaa are chasing off vultures when they stumble on an unconscious Simba. Timon implores Pumbaa to run for his life, but Pumbaa expresses interest in adopting the cub. Timon only agrees because he thinks Simba can protect him once he is older.

The two revive Simba and lead him to the jungle, where they teach him to embrace an “Hakuna Matata” lifestyle. Timon introduces Simba to their other animal friends and tells him that he must eat grubs only.

Timon and Pumbaa sing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", during which they lament Simba's affection for Nala

Simba embraces Timon and Pumbaa’s lifestyle and grows up with them in the jungle.

One day, Simba tries to play with an animal friend of his, but the animal avoids him. Timon gently explains that most prey animals will not want to play with a predator. Simba questions Timon and Pumbaa about the Circle of Life, but they insist that life is a line in which everyone only looks out for themselves.

That night, Timon stargazes with his friends. He surmises that stars are simply fireflies that got stuck on the sky. Simba offers his father’s explanation about the Great Kings of the Past, only for Timon and Pumbaa to laugh at him. When Simba walks off, hurt, Timon blames Pumbaa.

Timon and Pumbaa distract a group of hyenas

The next day, a lioness attacks Pumbaa, and Timon tries desperately to save him. Simba intervenes, only to realize that the lioness is his childhood friend, Nala. The two have a joyous reunion, and Simba introduces her to Timon and Pumbaa. The two then spend a romantic evening in the jungle together, which disappoints Timon and Pumbaa.

Later, after Simba leaves to claim his kingship of the Pride Lands, Timon and Pumbaa journey to the kingdom themselves. They distract the hyenas to give Simba and Nala the opportunity to reach Scar and do battle against the hyenas.

After the battle, Timon watches Simba ascend Pride Rock. He later witnesses the presentation of Simba’s cub.
