The Toad And The Rat is a story from the Rafiki Remembers magazine collection. It was published in the 1990s as part of The Lion King: A Nature Fun and Learn Series.
Synopsis[]
Toad is tired of Rat's awful boasting and says to him that there is something he can do that Rat cannot. Amused by Toad's confidence, Rat accepts his challenge, and Toad proclaims that he can walk through a group of men without being chased away. He then demonstrates for Rat.
Still confident, Rat steps up to take his turn, but once in the midst of the men, he is chased into the underbrush, where he admits to Toad that this is something he cannot do. Toad then takes the opportunity to explain to Rat that they are all different and that no one should delight themselves in boasting, for each animal has his own strengths and weaknesses.
