The Stupid Ass is a story from the Rafiki Remembers magazine collection. It was published in the 1990s as part of The Lion King: A Nature Fun and Learn Series.

Synopsis[]

The other animals struggle to believe that a powerful lion would make friends with such a lowly creature as an ass. The ass, however, ignores their criticisms and becomes full of herself, proud to have such a mighty friend. She even dismisses a fellow ass, thinking herself above him.

Not long after this, the two friends stumble across a cave, and Lion instructs the ass to wait at one entrance and bray at his signal. When the ass does so, a buck emerges from the cave and runs straight into Lion's mouth. As Lion tears into the carcass, the ass begs to have some herself, but he roars at her to go away or else he will eat her next. Ashamed, the ass flees and refuses to show herself in public for a long time.
