A Gift from the Heavens is a German comic inspired by The Lion King. It was published by Ehapa Verlag on February 29, 2000. One night, Mufasa teaches his son, Simba, that every king of Pride Rock becomes a bright star after his passing. He explains that the stars, or the Great Kings of the Past, watch over the pride from the heavens, even during the daytime. An enraptured Simba marvels at the tale as Mufasa calls him to bed. The next day, a starved stranger ventures into the Pride Lands, where he is struck by a meteor. Simba observes the crash and believes the stranger to be a Great King of the Past who has fallen from the heavens. At first, the stranger is loath to accept Simba's praises, but he agrees to stay when Simba offers to bring him a meal. Simba delivers a haunch of meat to the stranger, who introduces himself as "Great-Fighter" and makes up story after story about his reign as king.
