The Lion King II: Simba's Pride is an early treatment for what would become the film of the same name. It was dated March 1, 1996.
Synopsis[]
One day, Nala gave birth to a cub, and Rafiki carried the infant out of Pride Rock for Simba to see. To Simba's shock, Rafiki declared that the cub was a girl. He then presented the cub to a crowd of gathered Pride Landers. Later, while tending to her daughter, Nala asked Simba if he was disappointed.
Seasons later, Simba bonded and played with Shani. Along with Zazu, the two returned to Pride Rock, during which Shani recounted an adventure that she had had with a new friend and lamented that he had run away. She asked Simba if he was lonely, and he answered that he had been lonely before Nala and Shani. Shani argued that he had had friends, and he agreed but added that he had needed something more.
Later, Kovu and Shani were having a heart-to-heart when they were interrupted by Banzai, Ed, and Shenzi. The hyenas mocked Kovu for his romance with Shani, who asked Kovu if he knew them. He admitted that he did but promised to protect her. Addressing the hyenas, he asked where his Aunt Bianca was, and they attempted to trade the answer for a meal.
Later, Timon and Pumbaa overheard the hyenas discussing Kovu's impending marriage to Shani. To the duo's horror, Shenzi declared that Bianca and Kovu were going to turn Shani and Simba into "lion burger." Timon and Pumbaa resolved to warn Simba, only for the hyenas to spot them and give chase.
Later, Bianca confronted Simba and led her hyena allies in an attack on him. Though Simba did his best to fend the hyenas off, they overwhelmed him, while Bianca laughed maniacally.
