Gameplay[]

The plot of The Lion King 1½ follows Timon and Pumbaa as they search for Hakuna Matata. The game has three modes: solo, cooperative, and team. In solo mode, players complete levels as either Timon or Pumbaa in a platforming gameplay. In cooperative mode, players solve puzzles and complete tasks while alternating between Timon and Pumbaa. In team mode, players dodge obstacles while using both characters, with Timon riding on top of Pumbaa during chase sequences.

At the end of each set of levels, players unlock a video clip from the film. Additionally, if a player collects all 40 grubs in a level, they are awarded with a special puzzle piece. Should a player collect all the puzzle pieces for a set of levels, they will unlock a time-limited bonus level in which the playable character must reach the end in order to collect an additional health point. They may also collect clocks to obtain more time in the level.

Hidden power-ups in the game include: a remote that freezes enemies, a drink that defeats all on-screen enemies, and a beetle that gives the playable character an extra health point. Players may find hidden upgrades for the playable character; while Timon can obtain a hat, cane, and hula outfit that stuns hyenas longer, Pumbaa can obtain stink bugs that let him attack more frequently.[2]
