The Future King is a board book inspired by The Lion King. It was published by Mouse Works on July 1, 1994, as part of the The Lion King: Little Library.
Plot[]
One morning in the Pride Lands, Rafiki the baboon presents Simba, the son of Mufasa and Sarabi, to the kingdom. Afterwards, Mufasa confronts his brother, Scar, about the latter's absence from the ceremony. Scar claims to have forgotten, but Mufasa is still skeptical.
Some time later, Mufasa explains to Simba that one day he will be king, forbidding the cub to enter the Elephant Graveyard in the process. Instead of listening to his father, however, Simba turns to Scar, who manipulates the cub out of his desire to be king.
