Does it ever specify what Tama's gender is? I've read through the comic and it never says whether he/she is a boy or a girl. --HoneyfurBob's Your Uncle! 00:28, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Simba says "that annoying girl" to Tama in the comic.TrueKingNuka 17:28, March 17, 2011 (UTC)TrueKingNuka

Oh, must've missed it. :) --HoneyfurBob's Your Uncle! 19:01, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
"That annoying girl" could refer to Nala. JefKam 15:27, July 18, 2011 (UTC)
That's what I was thinking. When I first read the comic, I though Tama was a boy. --Honeyfur I'm surrounded by idiots. 15:44, July 18, 2011 (UTC)
But Simba doesn't find her annoying. If anything it's the other way round. Simba was annoyed by Tama because she took his playmate away. Also, Tama lacks whiskers, a trait of all males so she's a girl.Werebereus 19:53, July 18, 2011 (UTC)Werebereus

It's not confirmed, but it's assumed. --Honeyfur I'm surrounded by idiots. 20:34, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

She has NO WHISKERS. She's a GIRL.Werebereus 20:45, July 18, 2011 (UTC)Werebereus

Still, that's not proof. --Honeyfur I'm surrounded by idiots. 21:04, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

Yes it is. Females don't and never have had wiskers. Only males have them, she doesn't, she's not a male.Werebereus 21:14, July 18, 2011 (UTC)Werbereus

Tama's picture

The new one looks weird Were. And has a weird texture. Can't we just keep the old one and put the rest in a gallery?TP 10:56, July 24, 2011 (UTC)TP

The new one is from the original comic, but I agree. We should keep the English version as her profile picture. --Honeyfur I'm surrounded by idiots. 21:35, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

Tama's Name Meaning

I notice that Tama's name meaning is said to be Japanese, but I wonder why no one used the Swahili meaning? It's more likely to be of Swahili original than Japanese (I understand that Banzai's name comes from Japanese, but then it also does not have an alternate meaning in any African language). In Swahili, Tama means "End", "Conclusion", "Wrapping Up" OR "Cheek" OR "Truthfully", "Truly", "Really", "Honestly", "Frankly". Source is the Swahili Online Dictionary found at: I hope this helps, since I am of the opinion that the African name meanings should be used where applicable. Sorry if I've been a bother. RINJA! *nuzzle* and that's an interesting site, but i prefer this one. Just saying: Weskerbereus 22:44, October 27, 2011 (UTC)Werebereus
Allo Werebs! =D Either way, with whichever site, my point it Tama has a Swahili meaning. XD Rinjapine 23:29, October 27, 2011 (UTC) OH! And I should add that if someone wants a PHYSICAL book to back up both of us about the meaning thing, there's this one I make use of: Rinjapine 23:33, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
Cool ;)Albert Weskerbereus 23:56, October 27, 2011 (UTC)Werebereus

Tama's Gender Confirmed Female

I decided to try and translate bits of Trouble in Paradise from the original German text, and discovered that on the last page when Zazu is blaming Simba for what happened, he says "Gar nicht war! Ich bin nur den Mädels nach, um auf sie aufzupassen!"

He's basically saying it wasn't his fault and that he was just protecting the girls (Mädels is german for 'girls'/'gals' specifically, I cross checked it with a pretty accurate German dictionary). Since this is obviously plural, I think it's safe to say Tama is in fact female and it's clearly in the text. 08:38, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

Great! Do you have a link to the online dictionary you used so we can correctly cite our claim? --Honeyfur Hakuna Matata 15:59, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
Yep! I do. 12:23, February 5, 2012 (UTC)
Do you have the actual page where it says that? I've scoured the web for the original version and it doesnt exist.Werebereus 16:19, February 5, 2012 (UTC)Werebereus
The German version was originally posted on, but that site has had a history of being unavailable for long stretches and seems to have been completely changed now. I uploaded the German version to my site, though. Here is the page in question. Akril 18:31, February 6, 2012 (UTC)
Akril! :D Thanks! Could you perhaps upload the entire thing? That'd be cool.Werebereus 02:05, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
Nevermind. I've got them.Werebereus 02:07, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
