Snail Tricks Squirrel is a story from the Rafiki Remembers magazine collection. It was published in the 1990s as part of The Lion King: A Nature Fun and Learn Series.

Synopsis[]

Squirrel is determined to prove to Snail that he is the superior creature. Bounding down to Snail, Squirrel pokes fun at the fact that Snail must carry around his house all the time, and Snail, insulted, challenges Squirrel to a race. Amused by the Snail's confidence, Squirrel agrees.

Once Squirrel is gone, Snail employs his brother to wait at the end of the finish line and shout out to Squirrel when he sees him. When the race begins, Squirrel confidently streaks ahead to take the title, only to stop in consternation when he sees Snail's brother waiting for him at the finish line. Flabbergasted, he turns tail and races back to the start, where Snail waits smugly for him. The two agree to another race, but Squirrel meets the same fate, and Snail smiles smugly as the squirrel admits defeat.
