Kiros on Milele[src]

Shaju was a male lion. He was the son of Kiros and the prince of the Outsiders.

As part of his father's campaign to conquer the Valley of Kings, Shaju and fellow Outsider Azibo attacked Eshe. However, Mufasa leaped to her defense and killed Shaju by throwing him onto the sharp point of a log. Enraged by his son's death, Kiros swore vengeance on Mufasa and tracked him for many miles. Eventually, Kiros and Mufasa fought, resulting in Kiros's death and an unsuccessful revenge campaign.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Shaju was born to Kiros. He and his family lived in a pride of white lions known as the Outsiders. As the next-in-line to the throne, he was the crown prince of the Outsiders and expected to inherit the mantle of king from his father.[1]

Attack on Eshe and death[]

In an effort to help his father conquer the Valley of Kings, Shaju and fellow Outsider Azibo attacked Eshe. Seeing his adoptive mother in danger, Mufasa leaped to her defense and forced Shaju onto the sharp point of a log, killing him. Outnumbered, Azibo fled and reported what had happened to Kiros. He, in turn, requested the truth from Akua and Amara, who determined that Azibo had left Shaju to die. As recompense for his son's abandonment and death, Kiros let his pride kill Azibo.[1]

Legacy[]

Blood for blood!
―Kiros rationalizes his vengeance against Mufasa[src]

Following Shaju's death, Kiros wiped out Obasi's pride in vengeance. Upon learning that Mufasa and his brother, Taka, had escaped, he and his pride tracked them down, and Mufasa confessed that he had killed Shaju. The two young lions managed to escape the Outsiders, but the pride continued to hunt them down. Eventually, Taka betrayed Mufasa to Kiros, blaming him for Shaju's death and offering to lead the Outsiders to Milele. Once there, Kiros lamented that the kingdom should have belonged to his son but that, in Shaju's absence, Kiros himself would rule it without mercy. He then fought Mufasa, only to die at the young lion's paws.[1]

Physical appearance[]

They were huge, white as ghosts. Like nothing I've seen before.
―Eshe on the Outsiders[src]

Shaju was a fairly sizable and well-built lion. His facial features greatly resembled those of his father. His elbow tufts, mane, and pelt were white, while his nose was dark pink. His eyes were blue.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Shaju was a fierce and ruthless fighter, and had no qualms with attacking an outnumbered stranger unprovoked. However, he ultimately underestimated his enemies, resulting in his death at the hands of Mufasa.[1]
