Biography[]

Early life[]

Sarafina lived as a member of a pride of lions. At some point in her life, she took on a mate, with whom she had a cub.

One day, the Outsiders chased Sarafina and her pride from their original territory, prompting them to seek refuge in Milele.[1]

Alliance with Mufasa[]

There's nothing we can do! They've chased us from our pride lands before! They're too strong!

Sarabi and Sarafina face off against the Outsiders.

When Mufasa and his allies arrived in Milele, they were confronted by a hostile pride of lions known as the Outsiders. In order to gather allies for the fight, Sarabi appealed to the pride of lions who lived in Milele, which included Sarafina. Though they were initially hesitant to join the fight, Sarabi reminded them that they would be fighting for their young, and so, they agreed to help.

During the ensuing fight, Sarafina and her fellow lionesses got chased and cornered by the Outsiders. Just in time, an earthquake shook the earth, creating a fissure that swallowed the Outsiders. Meanwhile, Mufasa defeated the Outsiders' leader, Kiros, and became the new king of Milele.[1] Following Mufasa's ascent to kingship, Sarafina joined his pride, and her daughter, Nala, was betrothed to Mufasa's son, Simba.[2]

Mufasa's reign[]

Sarafina comforts Nala over Simba's purported death.

One afternoon, seasons later, Sarafina bathed Nala. Before long, Simba arrived and asked Nala to play with him, but Sarafina reminded him that Nala was in the middle of her bath. Afterwards, Sarafina allowed the cubs to play, though Sarabi instructed them to bring Zazu with them.

Later, Sarafina and the lionesses were informed by Scar that Mufasa and Simba had perished in a wildebeest stampede. As the next-in-line to the throne, Scar became the new king of Pride Rock and used his executive powers to allow the hyenas into the Pride Lands, which shocked and displeased the lionesses.[2]

Physical appearance[]

Sarafina is a large and muscular lioness, with a mottled grayish-gold pelt. She has yellow eyes, a dark brown nose, and a white chin.[2]

Personality and traits[]

Sarafina is affectionate and loving toward her daughter, Nala. She can be quite protective of Nala, as seen when she shielded the cub from Scar's hyena allies.[2]
