Sarabi is an adult lioness. She is the mate of Mufasa, with whom she has a son, Simba.

Sarabi is the queen of the Pride Lands. She and her mate, Mufasa, have a son, Simba. After Scar tells the pride that both Mufasa and Simba were killed during a wildebeest stampede, Sarabi assumes command of the lionesses, despite Scar's efforts to win them over.

Over the years, Scar tries to coerce Sarabi into becoming his mate, but she remains loyal to Mufasa's memory, refusing Scar every time. When her now-grown son, Simba, returns to the Pride Lands, Sarabi joins him in battle against Scar and his hyena minions. The pride is victorious, and Sarabi welcomes her son as the new king.

When Sarabi was young, both Mufasa and Scar fell in love with her. However, Sarabi chose Mufasa over Scar, much to the chagrin of the latter, who, aside from being turned down by Sarabi, was also jealous of his older brother's position as the king of the Pride Lands.

At Pride Rock, Sarabi and her mate Mufasa present their newborn son, Simba, to their subjects.

Months pass, with Simba growing into a lively cub. One day, Simba approaches Sarabi and the other lionesses to ask his friend, Nala, to play. Sarabi gives him a bath and instructs him to bring Zazu with him.

After Mufasa’s death, Sarabi grieves the loss of her mate and the supposed loss of her son. Scar takes the throne and allows the hyenas to turn the kingdom into a wasteland.

Years later, Nala encourages Sarabi to lead the pride out of the Pride Lands, but Sarabi refuses, as it is their home. Scar calls her to have an audience with him and reminds her of how she chose Mufasa over him to be her mate. Scar then offers Sarabi a place as his queen, stating that the other lionesses won't accept him as king out of respect for her. She refuses, and Scar punishes her by allowing the hyenas to eat before the lionesses.

Later, Scar confronts her again and demands that she be his queen. When she rejects him again by comparing him to Mufasa, he attacks her, only to be fended off by a full-grown Simba.

At first, Sarabi embraces her son in shock and awe. Scar accuses Simba of having killed Mufasa, to which Sarabi reacts with horror. However, she soon realizes Scar’s lie and attacks with the rest of the pride. The lionesses achieve victory over the hyenas.

After the battle, Sarabi nuzzles her son and watches him take his place as king of the Pride Lands.

Physical appearance

Sarabi is an exceptionally large lioness with a solid build, a rather wide head, and a square jaw with a prominent white chin. She has short, sleek, glossy golden fur, black lips, dark-lined yellow eyes, rounded ears, a white chest, and a thin dark stripe down her forehead.
