Rina and Rada are female spinster ratels.
Rina and Rada were friends with Simba throughout his childhood. When the young lion grew into an adult, they allied with him against Scar and his hyena army. Eventually, after an extended fight with Scar, Simba defeated him and became the new king of the Pride Lands.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Rina and Rada lived in the Pride Lands.[1]
Doting on Simba and Nala[]
Rina and Rada watched two cubs, Simba and Nala, play. They cooed over how cute the cubs were and noted that Mufasa must be proud of them. Upon seeing the spinster ratels, Nala bristled and jumped away, which prompted Simba to dash after her. Once the cubs were away from Rina and Rada, Nala berated Simba for talking to the spinster ratels and reminded him that they must be "ferocious and fearsome."
Seasons later, an adolescent Simba trotted past Rina and Rada, who exchanged pleasantries with him. After the young lion left, the two commented on how large he had grown and remarked that Mufasa must be proud of him.
Later, Zazu attacked Scar in order to help Simba escape. After the tickbird got knocked into Rina and Rada's hole, the spinster ratels cared for him and brought him some slugs to eat. However, he knocked the food aside and flew out of the hole, only to run into several hyenas. Cowed, he returned to Rina and Rada.
When Simba returned to his homeland to reclaim his birthright from Scar, Rina and Rada gathered with other animals to prepare for the coming battle. Per Simba's instructions, the aardvarks and spinster ratels dug a trap tunnel for Scar. Nala lured Scar into the tunnel, and the aardvarks and spinster ratels promptly filled it with dirt. Even so, Scar was able to burst out of the dirt, after which he battled and lost to Simba.[1]
