Well, there are those penguins over there, eh? I love watchin' 'em slide down the hill to the lake.

History[]

Poa the Destroyer[]

They say you demolished the penguins' ice slide, threw rocks at the goats, and knocked over the shrews with a tidal wave.
Rani to Beshte[src]

The penguins crash into the snow after Beshte ruins their ice slide.

While wandering the Tree of Life's territory in search of new animals, Beshte met Tangaagim, who suggested that he watch the penguins slide down a hill into a lake. Beshte took Tangaagim's advice and spectated the penguins using their ice slide. However, he accidentally trailed snow on the slide, which caused the penguins to tumble awkwardly into the lake below. Seeing Beshte walk off, unaware of the disaster he had caused, Pinguino deduced that he had ruined their slide on purpose.

On his way to complain to the Night Pride, Pinguino ran into several other animals who had been terrorized by Beshte. The group resolved to inform the Night Pride about Beshte's destructive tendencies, with Pinguino insisting that he handle the talking. He nicknamed Beshte "Poa the Destroyer," after the hippopotamus's catchphrase.

Beshte saves Pinguino.

Though the animals shared their complaints with Baliyo, Beshte returned to the penguins' ice slide and ruined it once more. This time, Pinguino complained to Baliyo and Rani, using the nickname "Poa the Destroyer" to refer to Beshte. Realizing that Beshte was behind the disastrous incidents, Baliyo and Rani informed the Lion Guard, and they resolved to clear their friend's name.

In an attempt to win back the locals' trust in Beshte, Baliyo and Bunga led the penguins toward the Tree of Life. However, when Bunga let slip that Beshte was at the Tree of Life, Pinguino refused to go and marched back home. Along the way, he ran into Beshte and attempted to flee up an icy ridge, only to slip and fall. Just in time, Beshte caught him on his back. Grateful for the rescue, Pinguino traveled to the Tree of Life with Beshte and cleared the hippopotamus's name. Their faith in him restored, the gathered animals started up a chant of "Poa!" for Beshte.[1]

Janna's death and Rani's coronation[]

I can't believe it.
―Pinguino on Queen Janna's death[src]

As Queen Janna lay dying, Pinguino and his rookery gathered outside the Tree of Life. After Janna's passing, Makini announced her death to the crowd, and they reacted with sorrow. The penguins attended Janna's funeral at the Willows, as well as Rani's coronation at the Tree of Life.[2]

Kion's coronation[]

You know, King Kion, he's as fierce as a penguin.
―Pinguino[src]

Pinguino and his rookery attended Kion's wedding to Rani at the Tree of Life. During the event, Pinguino bragged to Thurston that Kion was "as fierce as a penguin."[3]
