Ngomso

Lebo M's voice is synonymous with Lion King. That's the first voice you hear in the 1994 original. It's the first voice you hear in this film.
Lin-Manuel Miranda on "Ngomso"[1]

"Ngomso" is a song composed by Lebo M for Mufasa: The Lion King. It was released on December 13, 2024, as part of the film's official soundtrack and Deluxe Edition soundtrack.

Conception and development[]

Lebo M, whose vocals are heard in "Circle of Life" in The Lion King, confessed that writing another opening song for the franchise was "quite a big challenge." In a process remarkably similar to his conception of the "Circle of Life" chant, he composed "Ngomso" in a single morning.[2]

Release[]

Lebo M served as the composer and lyricist of "Ngomso". The song was released on December 13, 2024, as part of the original motion picture soundtrack of Mufasa: The Lion King as well as its Deluxe Edition soundtrack. Lebo M performed the song.[3][4]

Use[]

"Ngomso" is the opening musical number of Mufasa: The Lion King. The song starts as the Pride Landers journey to Pride Rock to hear an announcement by their king, Simba. Once they have gathered at the base of Pride Rock, Simba ascends the peak, and the song concludes.[5]

Lyrics[]

'Xesha lifikile wemampondo
