Bungala, bungala, you goofs!
―The native chief to his henchmen[src]

The native chief is a male human. He is the leader of the three natives.

Initially, the native chief and his minions mistook Pumbaa for their god-king. As a result, they forced Timon to be the warthog's servant and had Pumbaa relight their fire. However, when it started to rain, the natives realized that Pumbaa was an imposter and so attempted to capture both him and Timon. Eventually, the duo escaped, and the three natives returned to the university.

Later, after the natives stole the beast's gold tooth, they threw Timon and Pumbaa into the bottomless pit. There, the duo ran into the beast and resolved to retrieve his gold tooth from the native chief. After distracting the natives, Timon and Pumbaa made off with the gold tooth and gave it back to the beast, who attacked the natives in retribution.

Biography[]

Early life[]

The native chief lived in Bora Bora. At some point in his life, he became the leader of the three natives.[1]

After the three natives captured Pumbaa, the native chief arrived and realized that they were about to eat him. However, he mistook the warthog for their god-king. When Timon showed up and saw Pumbaa serving as the natives' king, he tried to help his friend escape, but the natives stopped him. The native chief made his minions throw Timon in a volcano, but when Timon told them that he would do anything in exchange for his life, the natives made the meerkat be Pumbaa's servant.

Later, the native chief saw that the fire had gone out and so made Pumbaa relight it. When the warthog did so, it rained. The natives realized that Pumbaa was an imposter, and the native chief made his minions capture Timon and Pumbaa. The duo escaped by making the three natives dance to samba music. However, the native chief made them stop. The three natives then took off their costumes and left Bora Bora to go back to the university.[1]

Skirmish with the beast[]

Timon and Pumbaa got tied up by the natives. The native chief had a gold tooth, which belonged to the beast, on his stick. He pushed Timon and Pumbaa down a slide that took them to a bottomless pit, which turned out to not be bottomless.

After the beast let Timon and Pumbaa out of the pit, the duo decided to retrieve his gold tooth from the native chief. They tried various ways to get the gold tooth from the native chief but failed every time.

Eventually, Timon and Pumbaa threw a parade and made the natives join in. Timon made the natives turn around, but they realized that the tooth was missing. The native chief made his minions chase and capture Timon and Pumbaa. When they did so, the gold tooth flew out of Pumbaa's mouth and fell inside the bottomless pit. Moments later, the beast burst out of the pit, his gold tooth in place, spewing fire at the natives. As the natives were blasted by the monster, Timon and Pumbaa walked calmly away, happy about their victory over the native chief. Pumbaa then showed Timon that he had one of the native chief's teeth in his mouth.[2]

Physical appearance[]

The native chief has gray skin. He wears a colorful mask as well as a blue anklet.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Like his henchmen, the native chief is devious and hostile. He can be quite aggressive and demanding, and uses his minions to enact his dastardly plans. He is quite a dangerous foe, as he demanded that Timon get thrown into a volcano when he attempted to make Pumbaa leave the natives. Whenever he gets annoyed, the native chief whacks people with his staff.[1]

Despite being smarter than his henchmen, the native chief can sometimes be tricked, as shown when Timon and Pumbaa posed as photographers in an attempt to retrieve the beast's gold tooth. The native chief also joined in on a parade that Timon and Pumbaa made up as a ruse to steal the gold tooth back.[2]

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • The native chief usually precedes his sentences with "Bungala, bungala!"[1]
