We are the greatest. Just try to debate us. Hail, hail the vultures. All hail! All hail!
―Mzingo's parliament[src]

Mzingo's parliament is a group of vultures led by Mzingo. They reside in the Outlands. They were formerly affiliated with the Army of Scar before its disbandment.

Despite living in the Outlands, Mzingo's parliament often kept tabs on the Pride Landers. Over the seasons, they had several antagonistic run-ins with the Lion Guard, some of which ended in them being expelled to the Outlands.

When the spirit of Scar returned and gathered himself an army, Mzingo's parliament joined. They served as the army's chief scouts and border guards, and occasionally dropped targeted fiery sticks on the Pride Lands. Eventually, the Pride Landers invaded the Outlands, defeated Scar's army, and destroyed Scar's spirit for good. In the wake of the battle, the army disbanded, and Mzingo's parliament took to serving the newly elected leader of the Outlands, Jasiri, instead.

History[]

Alliance with Janja's clan[]

What's Mzingo doing up there? Vultures only circle like that when they're expecting to eat.
Kiara, as Mzingo and Janja's clan invade the Pride Lands[src]
ReturnoftheRoar621

Mzingo's parliament schemes to invade the Pride Lands.

Upon learning that Kion was assembling a new Lion Guard, Mzingo reported what he had heard to Janja. Fearing the Guard would prevent them from hunting in the Pride Lands, the two schemed to invade the kingdom and hunt as much as they could before the Guard could come into its full power.

Together, Mzingo and Janja's clan invaded the Pride Lands and stalked a herd of gazelles, unaware that Kiara was watching them. They soon launched their attack, with Mzingo instructing the hyenas on which gazelle to target next. Before long, the Lion Guard arrived and defeated them, driving them from the Pride Lands once more.[1]

Ono's eye injury[]

The meeting to nominate subcommittee members to study the severity of Ono's loss of eyesight will go to the planning committee for a vote during the next session.
―Mzingo to his parliament[src]

One day, while flying across the Pride Lands, Ono ran into Mwoga and fell to the ground. From above, Mwoga observed the rest of the Lion Guard approaching Ono and discussing how he had injured his eye, thus impairing his vision. Mwoga reported what he had learned to his fellow vultures, and Mzingo set a potential meeting to discuss the severity of Ono's loss of eyesight. From nearby, Janja overheard the vultures' discourse and resolved to take advantage of the Lion Guard's weakness.[2]

Attack on Fuli[]

Oh, don't worry, my dear. It will all be over soon. After all, we are not uncivilized. Now! Parliament, attack!
―Mzingo to Fuli[src]
Parliamentattack

Mzingo's parliament attacks Fuli.

When Fuli overexerted herself on a mission, she became so exhausted that she collapsed beneath a tree in which Mzingo's parliament was roosting. Without taking notice of her, they performed their parliamentary anthem, "All Hail the Vultures". After the song, Mwoga spotted Fuli beneath their tree, and Mzingo noted her fragile physical condition. Dispensing with the usual parliamentary procedure, he ordered his vultures to attack.

As Mzingo and his parliament advanced on her, Fuli attempted to defend herself but proved to be too weak to put up much of a fight. Just in time, the rest of the Lion Guard arrived, and Kion used the Roar of the Elders to blow Mzingo's parliament away. With the danger abated, Fuli thanked her friends for having saved her life.[3]

Attack on the baby baboon[]

Vultures! Leave the baby baboon alone!
―Kion to Mzingo's parliament[src]

While the Lion Guard was on patrol, they spotted Mzingo and his parliament circling in the distance. Upon drawing nearer, they realized that the vultures were hunting a baby baboon. Hastening to the scene of the attack, Kion ordered the vultures to back off, while the rest of the Guard rescued the baby baboon and scared off the parliament.

After the rescue, Kion tasked Fuli with delivering the baby baboon back to his troop. Along the way, she spotted Mzingo and his parliament nearby and hid in a field of tall grass with the baby baboon. However, the vultures caught a glimpse of the baby baboon and heard his shriek, which prompted them to search the field. Thinking quickly, Fuli instructed the baby to cling to her underbelly while she pretended that she was out hunting. Upon spotting Fuli, Mzingo questioned her on her prey, and she remarked that he was looking rather plump. Spooked, he flew away alongside his fellows.

After Fuli returned the baby baboon to his home in Mapango Cliffs, Mzingo's parliament attacked. While the rest of his parliament targeted the baby baboon, Mzingo fought Fuli. In the middle of the battle, the baby baboon threw a fruit at Mzingo, which gave Fuli the opportunity to jump down the cliffs and pin him to the ground. She then ordered him to call off his parliament, and the vultures retreated.[4]

Alliance with Scar[]

First skirmish with the Lion Guard[]

Vultures! Go! Get the ash!
―Scar to Mzingo's parliament[src]

Mzingo's parliament pursues the Lion Guard.

When the Lion Guard journeyed to the Outlands volcano to fetch an antidote of ash for Simba, Scar summoned his army, including Mzingo's parliament. The Outlanders surrounded the Guard, cornering them on a ledge over the lava, until Kion used the Roar of the Elders to blow them away.

As the Guard made their escape, Scar ordered the vultures to pursue them and take the volcanic ash from them. The parliament managed to catch up to the Guard and briefly wrestled with Makini for the ash. However, Kion used the Roar again to make short work of his foes.[5]

Occupation of Kilio Valley[]

It seems our mission has been a rousing success, and all thanks to we vultures' pyrotechnic genius.
―Mzingo, after the Army of Scar takes over Kilio Valley[src]

Mzingo's parliament helps hold Kilio Valley.

Under Scar's orders, Mzingo's parliament dropped fiery sticks on Kilio Valley, setting it aflame. The rest of Scar's army then moved into the valley, driving off the elephant locals and occupying their valley. In the wake of the battle, the Outlanders argued over which species deserved the credit for their victory.

At that moment, the spirit of Scar manifested in a nearby fiery stick and ordered the army to remain in Kilio Valley so they could take the Pride Lands piece by piece. Once Scar had vanished, Janja attempted to assume command of the Outlanders, only for Mzingo, Kiburi, and Reirei to protest that they should lead instead. The Outlander leaders then devolved into arguing with one another.[6]

Border patrol[]

Keep out of our skies, Ono. You won't be so lucky next time!
―Mzingo, after Ono trespasses in the Outlands[src]

One day, Ono attempted to gather intel on Scar's army in the Outlands, only for Mzingo and Mwoga to chase him back to the Pride Lands. They then warned him not to return.[7]

Battle with the Pride Lander birds[]

It's the vultures. They're the ones dropping the fire sticks.
Anga[src]

Mzingo's parliament drops fiery sticks on the Pride Lands.

When fiery sticks began raining from the sky, the Lion Guard employed the help of Anga, a high-flying martial eagle. Along with Ono, she investigated an occurrence of falling fiery sticks in the Pride Lands. However, as she and Ono were flying toward the source of the falling sticks, Ono could not handle the high altitude and had to turn back. On her own, Anga discovered that Mzingo's parliament was to blame. She started to pursue them, but when they retreated toward the Outlands, she opted to turn back and report what she had learned to the Lion Guard instead.

Upon hearing Anga's report, Kion suggested they rally the Pride Lander birds to their cause, with some help from Hadithi. Shortly after Hadithi gathered and rallied his followers, the vultures launched another fiery attack, this time on the Maumivu Thorn Patch. During the fight, Hadithi got injured, and Ono was forced to take over leading the Pride Lander birds. Under his leadership, they rounded the vultures up, and Kion was able to use the Roar of the Elders to blow the parliament away.[8]

Battle for the Pride Lands[]

We chased off the vultures, but not before they hit Pride Rock.
―Anga on Mzingo's parliament[src]

Per Scar's instructions, Mzingo's parliament set Pride Rock ablaze. Anga then chased them off.

Later, when the Pride Landers invaded the Outlands, Mzingo's parliament joined the rest of Scar's army in fighting them. After an extended battle, the Pride Landers emerged victorious, with Kion destroying Scar's spirit once and for all. Though Janja nominated Jasiri to become the new queen of the Outlands, Mzingo suggested they hold an election instead. However, Cheezi and Chungu simply growled at him, and he hastily submitted to Jasiri's authority.[9]

Service to Jasiri[]

The ayes have it. We vultures would be honored to help.
―Mzingo to Jasiri[src]
Return90

Mzingo's parliament attacks Tazama.

When Jasiri returned to the Outlands from her trip to the Tree of Life, Mzingo's parliament welcomed her back. She asked if they would render assistance to the Lion Guard, and they voted in favor of helping.

Together, the Lion Guard and their allies approached the border of the Outlands and the Pride Lands, only to be intercepted by Vitani and her independently formed Lion Guard. As a battle broke out, Mzingo's parliament followed Ono's lead in attacking and distracting Vitani's scout, Tazama. Eventually, Kion grew impatient and readied to use the Roar of the Elders on Vitani's Guard. However, Kiara intervened and explained that the Outsiders had joined Simba's pride. The Guard then halted their attack, and Mzingo's parliament followed Jasiri back into the Outlands.[10]
