Synopsis[]
Kion becomes the leader of the Lion Guard after using the Roar of the Elders. For his team, he chooses four members: Fuli the cheetah for the Fastest, Bunga the honey badger for the Bravest, Beshte the hippopotamus for the Bravest, and Ono the egret for the Keenest of Sight.
Beshte was laidback, but always ready to defend his home from danger. When Pua, the leader of the crocodiles, visited Big Springs, he asked if there were enough fish first, as he understood the Circle of Life.
At first, Kion's father Simba was concerned about Kion's choice for teammates. However, after the Lion Guard saved Kion's sister Kiara, he accepted the new team. He spoke with Rafiki and came to understand that Kion was no longer a cub, but a leader.
Bunga's uncles, Timon and Pumbaa, were carefree and so did not understand why Bunga wanted to join the Lion Guard. However, when Bunga explained that his philosophy was "Zuka Zama" rather than "Hakuna Matata", they better understood his decision.
The Lion Guard helped many Pride Landers, including Pim the hyrax, who nearly got eaten by Ushari. Often, they battled against the hyenas, who opposed the Circle of Life. Due to Kion's Roar, the Lion Guard was able to succeed against their foes.
Finally, the Lion Guard overlooked the Pride Lands, knowing that it was their duty to protect the kingdom.
