Rafiki: The Tree of Life is very far away and not easy to find. But there are landmarks to help guide your way. Ono: Hmmm, yes. I see. Rafiki: Yes, yes! Just follow the paintings on the moja kwa moja stones.
Anga: And I think I see the next moja kwa moja stone. Makini: Oh! That means we really are on the right path to the Tree of Life.

A moja kwa moja stone activates to depict the Tree of Life.
A moja kwa moja stone is a large, flat-sided stone upon which a painting of a nearby landmark is portrayed. It serves as a checkpoint to help guide travelers to the Tree of Life.[1] When touched with a bakora staff, the painting on a moja kwa moja stone will morph into an image of the Tree of Life.[2]
There are eight moja kwa moja stones in existence.[3] The first is located in the Back Lands and depicts a waterfall and an iroko tree;[2] the second depicts a snowy mountain;[4] the third depicts a bamboo forest;[5] the fourth depicts Dragon Island;[6] the fifth depicts a river; the sixth depicts a pool; the seventh depicts four stars;[7] and the eighth depicts a lake.[8]
History[]
The Lion Guard's journey to the Tree of Life[]
“
I've memorized the landmarks that point the way to the Tree of Life.
When Kion received a scar from Ushari and Ono's eyes were damaged by volcanic fog, Makini and the Lion Guard traveled to the Tree of Life to find permanent remedies for their injuries. They used the moja kwa moja stones to guide them on their journey.[1] Later, they used the moja kwa moja stones to find their way back to the Pride Lands.[3]
