Mimipo is a female hippopotamus.
Because of a severe drought and famine in the Pride Lands, Mimipo and her sister, Sisipo, fled the kingdom and took refuge in the jungle. After Simba became the new king of the Pride Lands, he sent Timon and Pumbaa to retrieve Mimipo and the other Pride Landers who were in self-exile. The two helped Mimipo find her lost sister, after which the hippopotamuses agreed to return home.
Biography
Early life
Mimipo had an elder sister, Sisipo. Under Scar's reign, the Pride Lands suffered a drought and famine. Because of the kingdom's poor conditions, the sisters fled to the jungle.[1]
Self-exile to the jungle
While crossing a river with her sister, Mimipo got separated from Sisipo. Shortly afterward, Timon and Pumbaa came looking for Mimipo and overheard her crying. Once at her side, they tried to comfort her by telling her that she could return to the Pride Lands and perhaps even receive a personal welcome from King Simba. However, Mimipo cried that she had lost her sister, Sisipo. She then related how she had been swimming with her sister when the current had separated them.
Timon and Pumbaa vowed to help Mimipo find her sister, much to the calf's delight. However, she warned them that the current was strong and that fish blew stinging bubbles into the water. Despite the danger, Timon and Pumbaa agreed to the adventure, and Mimipo told them that she could create whirlpools to drive off the dangerous fish. The three friends jumped into the water and swam until they found Sisipo, who had a delighted reunion with her sister.[1]
Physical appearance
Despite her small size, Mimipo is block-like and rotund, with a large head and thick legs. Her hide is pinkish-gray, and her eyes are a very dark lavender.[1]
Personality and traits
Mimipo is easily frightened and unable to function on her own. She can be quite fretful in dire situations and finds it hard to cope with stress.[1]
