Kinyonga is a female chameleon.
Kinyonga volunteered to spy on Scar's army for the Lion Guard. Using her camouflage abilities, she snuck into the Outlands and learned that Janja was being sent to block up the river at Hakuna Matata Falls in order to deplete the Pride Lands of an important water source. Just then, she got caught and surrounded by skinks, only for the Lion Guard to arrive and save her. Later, Kinyonga used her camouflage abilities to scare the hyenas away from Hakuna Matata Falls, which thwarted their plans.
Kinyonga lived in the Pride Lands.
Alliance with the Lion Guard
Thurston's frightened brays attracted the Lion Guard's attention, and the team approached him and his herd, asking what the problem was. Thurston reported that a nearby rock had been talking to him, but the team had their doubts. However, Twiga soon appeared with a similar claim about a tree. Kion calmed the animals, promising to figure out what was going on.
The Lion Guard investigated Twiga's tree, where Ono felt a mysterious creature crawl over his talons. A chameleon briefly appeared before the team, then raced away, blending in with her surroundings as she went. The team chased her, and Ono was able to spot her with his keen sight. The chameleon then revealed herself to them, as she realized that they were the Lion Guard, and introduced herself as Kinyonga. She then explained her camouflage abilities to the team.
After parting ways with Kinyonga, Ono apologized for having been spotted by the vultures. Kinyonga overheard the dilemma and offered to sneak into the Outlands and spy on its inhabitants for the Lion Guard. Kion was hesitant to place her in so much danger, but Kinyonga insisted that she had ventured undetected into the Outlands before. Kion reluctantly agreed to her plan.
Kinyonga ventured into the Outlands, sneaking past the vultures, Cheezi, and Chungu to the volcano. There, she overheard Scar ordering Janja to block up the river at Hakuna Matata Falls in order to deplete the Pride Lands of an important water source.
Just then, Shupavu noticed Kinyonga's shadow on the wall and alerted Scar to the intruder. Ushari ordered the skinks to pursue her, and Kinyonga raced away, with Shupavu and her minions hot on her tail.
Kinyonga found herself cornered by skinks at a dead-end. Just then, Shupavu heard a mysterious voice and turned to find that the Lion Guard had snuck up on the skinks by using foliage and mud to conceal themselves. The skinks beat a hasty retreat, and Kinyonga expressed admiration for the Lion Guard's tactics. She then explained Scar's plan to them, and the team resolved to return to the Pride Lands to foil the plot.
Come nighttime, the hyenas attempted to block up the river, but the Lion Guard once more camouflaged themselves and launched a surprise attack. As the hyenas retreated, Cheezi wondered how the Lion Guard had managed to learn such a trick. Kinyonga suddenly appeared and took the credit. Her unexpected appearance startled the hyenas, who fell into the river and careened over the edge of Hakuna Matata Falls. Kion turned to thank Kinyonga, but the chameleon had already disappeared.
The next morning, Ono reported that Kinyonga was still missing. At that moment, the Lion Guard noticed Thurston speaking to a rock and figured that it must be Kinyonga at work. They approached Kinyonga and questioned her on why she had disappeared, to which she expressed guilt over having scared Janja and his clan into the river. Bunga assured her that it did not matter if the hyenas got spooked, and she vowed to never scare anyone again. However, Thurston was frightened by her appearance, and he and his herd fled from the rock. The Lion Guard quickly took chase, while Kinyonga blended into the grass.
Kinyonga is a moderately sized chameleon. She has bright green skin, with stripes on her back, legs, and tail. She has brown eyes with yellow sclerae.
