Kiara is a female lion. She is the princess heir of Pride Rock. She is the daughter of Simba and Nala.
When Simba and Nala journeyed to the sacred lion birthing grounds for the birth of their second cub, they left Timon and Pumbaa in charge of Kiara. While with her babysitters, she became afraid of a thunderstorm, and Rafiki decided to tell her the story of her grandfather, Mufasa. After the story, she gained enough confidence to roar from the top of the cave. She then reunited with her parents and met her newborn brother.
Biography[]
Early life[]
After Simba reclaimed his birthright from his usurper uncle, Scar, he became the king of the Pride Lands and took his betrothed, Nala, to be his mate. Together, they had Kiara, who was set to inherit the throne from Simba. The royal family hosted a ceremony at Pride Rock, during which Rafiki held Kiara atop the promontory for the gathered Pride Landers to see.[1]
Rafiki's story about Mufasa[]

When Nala became heavily pregnant with her and Simba's second cub, she departed for the sacred lion birthing grounds. Before leaving to join her, Simba charged Timon and Pumbaa with babysitting Kiara in his absence. Though he forbid them from telling her any stories, they lied to her that they had defeated Scar in the battle for Pride Rock.
Kiara listens to Rafiki tell the story of her grandfather, Mufasa.
Just then, a storm moved in overhead, and Kiara hid in fear. Before long, Rafiki entered the cave and assured her that her father had been scared of thunder as a cub but had eventually mastered his fear and roared from the top of the cave. She expressed doubt that she could ever be that brave, and so, Rafiki decided to tell her the story of her grandfather, Mufasa.
After Rafiki's story, Kiara gathered her courage and roared from the top of the cave. As she did so, the storm cleared, and an image of Mufasa appeared in the clouds overhead. With the cloud cover gone, Kiara spotted her parents in the distance and ran out to meet them. Upon reuniting with her, they introduced her to her newborn brother, whom she vowed to protect forever. She then told him the story of Mufasa.[2]
Physical appearance[]
As an infant, Kiara was small, with spotted golden-brown fur. She had large blue eyes, a narrow brown nose, and small dark-rimmed ears.[1] Upon growing into a cub, she became larger and more compact, though she remained fairly slender.[2]
