The Lion King

Simba roars over the Pride Lands

After Simba defeats Scar, in their fight for the throne, the lionesses meet and embrace him at the base Pride Rock. Simba then climbs up Pride Rock, and as he reaches the promontory, he looks at the hole through the rain clouds to see a patch of stars, one of them shining brightly. Upon hearing Mufasa's voice telling him to "remember," Simba gains courage, confidence, and strength, and roars out over his reclaimed kingdom, and the rest of the pride roars back in approval of their new king.

Many years later, we see the Pride Lands restored, and the presentation of Simba and Nala's newborn cub.

The Presentation

Rafiki holding Kiara

Simba welcomes the birth of his and Nala's daughter, Kiara, by holding a presentation ceremony for her in which he calls his subjects to Pride Rock to witness the lifting up the future queen. As the sun rises over the Pride Lands, Rafiki calls to the Pride Landers from the top of Pride Rock. Once the animals are present, Simba and Nala appear with Kiara. Rafiki greets the king and queen with a hug, and Zazu bows respectfully before the royal family, as he once did for Mufasa.

Rafiki takes Kiara in his arms and hoists her into the air for everyone to see, and the Pride Landers rejoice. As Mufasa smiles down on his granddaughter from the heavens, Simba breathes deeply as the wind ruffles his mane, and Nala smiles, both happy and proud of their newborn cub. After a moment, Rafiki lowers Kiara, marks her forehead with his thumb, and holds the princess while Simba and Nala nuzzle her.

Meanwhile, Timon and Pumbaa discuss plans for "raising" Kiara, both oblivious to the fact that she is a girl. Timon tells Pumbaa that it will be up to them to teach Kiara the important things, like how to belch and root for grubs. Rafiki chuckles at the pair and gently informs them that "the little guy" is a girl, much to Timon and Pumbaa's horror.
