Keith David Williams (known professionally as Keith David) is an American film and television actor, voice actor, singer, and comedian. He voices Mr. Pig in The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa.
Biography
Career
David has acted in many mainstream films such as Crash, Men at Work, and There's Something About Mary. He also had memorable roles in numerous cult favorites. This includes John Carpenter's films The Thing and They Live, the Riddick films The Chronicles of Riddick and Pitch Black, and the Oliver Stone film Platoon.
David starred in the sixth season of the comedy series Community as Elroy Patashnik.[1]. In 2016, he starred in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series Greenleaf, as Bishop James Greenleaf.
David's Emmy Award-winning voice over career includes being a narrator in numerous Ken Burns films such as The War. Characters he has voiced include Goliath in the Disney series Gargoyles, Dr. Facilier in the Disney film The Princess and the Frog, the Flame King in Adventure Time, and the President of the United States in Rick and Morty.
Personal life
David is the son of Dolores (née Dickenson) and Lester Williams. His mother was a manager at New York Telephone while his father worked as a director of payroll operations.
David initially intended to become an actor after playing the Cowardly Lion in a school production of The Wizard of Oz and went to study at Manhattan's High School of Performing Arts. He attended the Juilliard School's Drama Division where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1979.
