The jeweler is a male human.
The jeweler resolved to turn Speedy the Snail's shell into an earring for his wife. Eventually, Timon and Pumbaa rescued Speedy, who got a new golden shell. Later, the jeweler attempted to catch butterflies for his insect collection, but they defeated him and shoved him in a jar.
Biography[]
Early life[]
The jeweler lived in a tree house in the jungle, where he worked as a butterfly collector.[1] At some point in his life, he married an unnamed woman.[2]
Kidnapping Speedy[]
After Speedy the Snail rescued Timon and Pumbaa from being thrown off the ship by Captain Quint, the jeweler and his wife noticed Speedy's shell and suggested that it would make a perfect earring. The couple kidnapped Speedy, leaving it up to Timon and Pumbaa to rescue him.
While the jeweler and his wife prepared to make an earring out of Speedy's shell, Timon and Pumbaa drilled a hole in the ceiling, and Timon took a hook to save Speedy. The jeweler saw the hook and threw it in the ocean, and Timon accidentally caught an octopus, which attacked the two friends.

For their second attempt to rescue Speedy, Timon and Pumbaa disguised themselves as pirates who wanted Speedy, but the jeweler's wife wanted to be their pirate queen. After Pumbaa told the truth, he and Timon got kicked out of the cabin.
Timon and Pumbaa went underwater for their third attempt. Timon spotted the room where Speedy and the couple were. The meerkat then drilled a hole in the bottom of the boat, and Pumbaa tried to stop him. This made the boat fall and land on the two.
Timon and Pumbaa set up various obstacles to trap the married couple and save Speedy. However, the plan backfired, as the couple passed all the obstacles safely. Timon and Pumbaa then saw that Speedy had been made into an earring for the jeweler's wife; hence, they were too late. The couple entered the ship lounge, and, knowing that they could not just remove Speedy from the jeweler's wife's ear in front of the other passengers, Timon and Pumbaa decided to be sneaky.

Timon and Pumbaa successfully removed Speedy from the couple without being noticed. While the three friends were walking on the deck, they got caught by the couple, who had realized that Speedy was missing from one of the jeweler's wife's ears. Timon, Pumbaa, and Speedy got chased by the couple until they entered the captain's room. Timon made all the passengers, including the couple, get out of the boat by tricking them into thinking that there was gold underwater. When Pumbaa made Timon realize that the passengers would get back on the boat after discovering that there really was not any gold, the meerkat decided to move the ship.
Timon pulled the lever but accidentally made the boat move too fast. After the meerkat re-pushed the lever to make the boat stop, the three friends made it to Speedy's home. However, they got caught by the couple once again. Timon pushed the lever to make the boat move backward so that he, Pumbaa, and Speedy could get off, with the couple still on the ship. The plan worked, and the trio escaped.
With Speedy home safe and sound (and with a new gold shell), he said his goodbyes to Timon and Pumbaa, only to get captured by a seagull, which left it up to Timon and Pumbaa to rescue him again.[2]
Collecting butterflies[]
When Timon caught a butterfly, Pumbaa decided not to eat it due to its cuteness. However, the jeweler caught the insect and threw Timon into one of Pumbaa's nostrils. When the jeweler trapped the butterfly in a jar and fled, Timon and Pumbaa followed the jeweler all the way to his tree house in order to rescue the butterfly.

When the duo got to the jeweler's tree house, they realized that it was guarded by his pet tiger, who was extremely vicious and homicidal. This led Timon and Pumbaa to figure out a way to pass the tiger. The two friends made various attempts to pass the tiger guard in order to get inside the tree house, using such items as a jack-in-the-box, giant rubber band, magic carpet, horse, jet plane, catapult, etc. All of these attempts backfired.
After all the trouble Timon and Pumbaa had gone through, Timon tried to think of another plan to pass the tiger. Pumbaa then got an idea to use pixie dust to get rid of the tiger. The warthog got a bag, but Timon did not think it would work because he did not believe in pixie dust. The meerkat threw the bag behind the fence, and he and Pumbaa saw the tiger fly away.

Timon and Pumbaa finally got in the house and saw the jeweler's butterfly collection. They then saw the jeweler putting the butterfly into one of his collections. Pumbaa went berserk and kicked the jeweler out of his house. Timon claimed the jeweler was being kicked toward China. With the jeweler utterly defeated, Timon got ready to eat the butterflies, but Pumbaa stopped him and told his friend that they had come in to free the butterflies. After they did so, the jeweler returned to his house in Chinese clothes.
The jeweler saw that Timon and Pumbaa had let the butterflies go and threatened to put the two in a new collection he had started. The butterflies went back into the house and put the jeweler in a jar, thus rescuing Timon and Pumbaa. Pumbaa was happy for the butterflies' rescue but then saw that Timon had one butterfly in his mouth. Pumbaa made Timon spit the butterfly out of his mouth, and the insect flew away.[1]
Physical appearance[]
The jeweler is a short and squat man. He has olive skin and black hair.[2]
Personality and traits[]
The jeweler is malevolent and overzealous. Although his wife is very bossy and demanding, he shows strong loyalty to her and is willing to do anything she tells him. He does not seem to show any concern about the lives of insects, as he and his wife kidnapped Speedy to make an earring out of his shell, and he kidnapped butterflies to put them in a collection.[2][1]
