Janja's Prisoners is a comic inspired by The Lion Guard. It was published in September 2016 as part of The Lion Guard Magazine.

While searching for grubs, Timon and Pumbaa encounter Janja the hyena, who chides them for venturing so near the Outlands. As Janja advances on the two, his crony Chungu warns him that Timon and Pumbaa are friends with the Lion Guard, but Janja disregards his warning and kidnaps them.

The Lion Guard arrives on the scene, and Bunga wonders where his uncles are. Just then, Kion spots hyena tracks, and Bunga urges the team to follow them. Ono, however, points out that the hyenas have probably traveled too far ahead, and he suggests that they take a shortcut to their den. At this point in the comic, the reader can either choose to follow Bunga's plan or Ono's.

Bunga's Plan

After following the hyena tracks, the Lion Guard sees Timon and Pumbaa locked up in a cage of thorns, while the hyenas doze nearby. The team uses termites to eat through the cage, and Timon and Pumbaa escape with the Lion Guard. After the rescue, the hyenas awaken to the termites eating their surroundings, with one clamped on to Janja's nose. From afar, Pumbaa comments that termites can be quite useful.

Ono's Plan

The Lion Guard takes a shortcut to reach the hyenas' lair, where they find Timon and Pumbaa trapped on an island surrounded by lava. Ono suggests they try and divert the lava, and Beshte pushes a rock into the stream. With the lava diverted, the Lion Guard rescues Timon and Pumbaa, and the hyenas are left with a den now flooded with lava.
