Goat's Escape is a story from the Rafiki Remembers magazine collection. It was published in the 1990s as part of The Lion King: A Nature Fun and Learn Series.
Synopsis[]
Dog, Leopard, and Lion are good friends who live together and help one another find food. One day, food runs short, and the three invade their neighbor's farm to see if they can salvage anything to eat. When they break into the farm, they find that all the animals have fled except Cat and Goat, who have been tied up.
First, they untie Cat, who begs the three to let her dance for them before they eat her. Lion agrees, and Cat dances for their entertainment. She then asks if they would like to see her jump for them, but when they agree, she simply jumps over the farm wall and runs off. A furious Lion wonders how they can get Cat back, and Goat volunteers to make a magic potion for them.
Dog unties Goat, who tells the three that he will require a bowl of water to change into medicine. Leopard brings a bowl before Goat, and Goat pours a bottle of water into it. However, he does not tell the others that the bottle actually contains honey instead of water. After the "medicine" is complete, Goat offers some to Lion, who is incredulous at the taste and tells Goat to make him a potion to wear around his neck.
Goat agrees to Lion's request, but tells him that the potion will require leopard skin. Lion then begins to chase Leopard, who flees, with Dog taking off after the both of them. In the meantime, Goat makes a speedy escape.
