Gerald C. Rivers
2001 – Present
Rivers grew up in Compton, California, and studied at the Sheenway Theatre Arts Repertory in Los Angeles. He later attended Los Angeles City College, where he earned his Associates of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts, and became a three-time National Gold Medalist in Dramatic Interpretation with the National Forensics League. After graduation, he enrolled at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Following college, Rivers joined the then oldest existing professional theater in Georgia, the Academy Theatre. After several years of performing and touring with the Academy Theatre, he moved on to other groups, such as the Georgia Shakespeare Festival and the Hippodrome State Theatre. Rivers is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in several Los Angeles theater productions.
