History[]

Lion Guard's visit to the mountains[]

Attack? Oh, no. We thought we'd do a glide-by and say, "Welcome to the neighborhood!" Back to the trees, boys. You're scaring the new neighbors.
―Tafu, when the flying squirrels frighten Yuki's troop[src]

When Yuki's troop moved into a hot spring in the mountains, the nearby flying squirrels glided by to introduce themselves. The snow monkeys mistook the squirrels for birds of prey and reacted fearfully. Bunga caught Tafu, and Ono identified him as a flying squirrel. Kion demanded to know why the squirrels were trying to scare the monkeys, but Tafu explained that they had merely wanted to welcome the troop to the neighborhood. He then called off the other squirrels, and Bunga let him go.[1]

Physical characteristics[]

Flying squirrels have reddish pelts with black ears and paws. Their eyes are black or brown.[1]

Sociocultural characteristics[]

Flying squirrels reside in snowy habitats, such as mountains. They typically nest in trees.[1]
