Fire Against Rain is a story from the Rafiki Remembers magazine collection. It was published in the 1990s as part of The Lion King: A Nature Fun and Learn Series.
Synopsis[]
Fire and his archenemy, Rain, are arguing over who is more powerful, with Fire boasting about his powerful flames, while Rain prides himself on his heavy downpours. At last, the two resolve to hold a contest in order to test their strength.
After inviting all their friends and relatives, the two begin their contest, with Fire burning down the plains and chasing away all the animals that live there. In retaliation, Rain lets loose his power and pours down rain on Fire's destruction, but Fire pushes back, devastating the crops and the fields. However, his power soon begins to weaken, and Rain continues to relentlessly attack him, flooding the plains and ensuring himself a swift and powerful victory.
