The X-Piles is an American comic inspired by The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa. It was published in 1997 as part of that month's issue of Disney Adventures.
Synopsis[]
Spoofing the popular Sci-fi show, Timon begins telling the readers the tale of the X-Piles. In the story, Timon and Pumbaa find a pile of flashlights, which Pumbaa comments that there must be a logical explanation for it. Timon replies that it is perhaps an illogical explanation and tells Pumbaa about the theories based on the paranoia comics he has read.
Pumbaa tells Timon that the paranoia comics are for gullible people who believe that everything is a government conspiracy, which Timon replies that it just what the government wants them to think. The meerkat then states that if it weren't for the global military cover-ups, they would have learned about the alien invaders long ago. He explains to Pumbaa that the alien invaders kidnap earthlings so they can steal their flashlights for their own clandestine, alien purposes.
Timon and Pumbaa then run into Rafiki (much to their surprise since he wasn't contracted to be in their story), who warns them about a pack of hungry cheetahs coming and tells them to forget about the "alien nonsense". When Rafiki leaves, Timon and Pumbaa realize that Rafiki wasn't here to warn them about the cheetahs, he drew a map of all the flashlight X-piles. Timon comments that X marks the spot and is curious to know which one and why.
Timon and Pumbaa discover that Rafiki was actually an alien in disguise. Timon then realizes that the X-piles are landing beacons for their mother ship and that aliens are invading. Frightened, he tells Pumbaa that they should get out, but then sees that his friend is an alien in disguise, who states that the invasion began weeks ago.
Pumbaa interrupts the story, telling Timon that he was never an alien, which Timon replies that it makes the story creepier. As Timon finishes the story to the readers, he tells them that an alien could be anyone, even your best friend. Timon and Pumbaa then point out that it's just a silly story and that it can never happen in real life. However, when Timon and Pumbaa leave, they are shown to have the tails of the alien from the story, revealing them to be aliens in disguise.
