Alfre Woodard is an American actress and producer. She voices Sarabi in the 2019 remake of The Lion King.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Woodard was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of Marion and Constance Woodard's three children. Woodard graduated from a private Catholic school, Bishop Kelley High School, in 1970. She graduated from Boston University, where she studied drama.
Career[]
Woodard's early career was in theatre. Her breakthrough role was in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, and her film debut was in the 1978 American thriller Remember My Name.
Some of Woodard's notable films include Grand Canyon, Heart and Souls, and Crooklyn. She would later voice Sarabi, the mother of main protagonist Simba, in the 2019 remake of The Lion King.
