You shouldn't have come here. But now that you have, I should warn you, I like to play with my food.
―Ora[src]

Ora is a male Komodo dragon. He is a member of Makucha's army.

When the Lion Guard journeyed to Dragon Island, they were attacked by Ora and his minions. Kion managed to fend off the Komodo dragons by using the Roar of the Elders, but in doing so, he inadvertently beached a dolphin named Lumba-Lumba. Ora took advantage of the situation and launched an attack on the helpless dolphin, but he was swiftly defeated by the Lion Guard. After his defeat, he joined Makucha's army.

Along with Chuluun and Makucha, Ora followed the Lion Guard to the Tree of Life. The three allied with Mama Binturong and launched many attacks on the Tree of Life, all of which ended in failure. With Mama Binturong's help, they brought in more allies and launched a final invasion of the Tree of Life, but Kion used the Roar of the Elders to exile the army from the territory permanently.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Ora lived on Dragon Island. At some point in his life, he gained two followers who did his bidding.[1]

Meeting the Lion Guard[]

Dolphin, a little on the pink side, just the way I like it.

Ora and his minions attack the Lion Guard.

As the Lion Guard started to cross a land bridge to Dragon Island, they were stopped by an old civet, who warned them about the dragons that inhabited the island. The Lion Guard brushed off his warnings and continued on their way. Once on the island, the Lion Guard was attacked by Ora and his minions. A desperate Kion used the Roar of the Elders to blow his foes away, but in doing so, he caused the water to recede from the island, then come back as a tidal wave.

Later, while the Lion Guard worked to save a dolphin named Lumba-Lumba, a wave washed Ora and his friends back to shore. Not too far away, Anga, Makini, and Ono identified the next landmark: a tree on a cliff. They overheard the Komodo dragons attacking the Lion Guard and raced to their rescue. Together, the team fended off the attackers.

Ora joins Chuluun and Makucha in their mission to reach the Tree of Life.

After the fight, Makini explained that they could not leave the island since Kion's Roar had destroyed the land bridge. Kion then used his Roar to create a path through the waters. The resulting waves washed Lumba-Lumba back out to sea, and she thanked them for saving her. The Lion Guard then took Kion's path through the waves, with Ora and his minions in hot pursuit. However, once the team reached the shore, Kion stopped roaring, and the waves crashed in on the Komodo dragons.

While the Lion Guard journeyed toward the next moja kwa moja stone, Chuluun and Makucha recruited Ora to join them on their quest to get revenge on the Lion Guard.[1]

Makucha's army[]

Arrival at the Tree of Life[]

Now, we do it my way. We stand and fight!
―Ora leads Makucha's army[src]

Ora leads his allies in an attack on the Tree of Life.

Ora and his allies, Chuluun and Makucha, arrived at the mountain pass, which led to the Tree of Life. Though Ora could not smell the Lion Guard, Chuluun and Makucha assured him that they had traveled through the pass. Makucha attempted to take charge of the group, but Ora and Chuluun refused to take his orders. Ora then reminded Makucha that he could defeat both him and Chuluun with his venom if he so chose. Ullu the owl overheard their activities and left to inform Rani.

The Night Pride arrived and took on Ora and his allies. The pride defeated the army easily, as they did not work well together. The Lion Guard arrived at the scene of the fight, only to find that the Night Pride had already won. Baliyo mentioned Makucha by name, and Kion apologetically admitted that Makucha and his allies had followed the Lion Guard to the Tree of Life. This infuriated Rani.

Ora flees in fear of the Roar of the Elders.

The Lion Guard and the Night Pride traveled to the Tree of Life, where Rani accused Kion of having let in an army of predators. Kion apologized and offered his services in defeating Makucha's army, but Janna advised Kion to heal before he helped the Night Pride.

That night, Chuluun led Makucha's army in another attack, but the Night Pride fended them off. Ora then resolved to take over and attack the pride head-on by the light of day. The next day, the group succeeded in infiltrating the Tree of Life and attacked the Night Pride, with Ora using his venom to disable Baliyo. However, Kion soon arrived, and Ora fled in fear of the Roar of the Elders.[2]

Mama Binturong's plot[]

So what are we waiting for?

Ora and his allies pretend to attack Mama Binturong.

Ora regrouped with Chuluun and Makucha at the mountain pass, where Mama Binturong arrived and declared herself the army's new leader.[2]

Mama Binturong plotted to invade the Tree of Life by pretending to seek sanctuary from Ora and his allies. The army enacted the plan, and Ora, Chuluun, and Makucha chased Mama Binturong into the mountain pass. There, the Night Pride arrived and saved Mama Binturong from harm. After driving off Ora and his allies, the pride accepted Mama Binturong for healing at the Tree of Life.

Ora and his allies sneak into the Tree of Life.

After gathering intel at the Tree of Life, Mama Binturong returned to her allies and instructed them to kill Janna while she distracted the Night Pride. The plan went into motion, with the Night Pride falling for Mama Binturong's cries for help. In the meantime, Ora, Chuluun, and Makucha snuck over the border.

Ullu informed the Lion Guard of Mama Binturong's peril, and they resolved to help her. However, Ono realized that Mama Binturong had called Chuluun by name in her cries for help, which indicated that they were working together. The Lion Guard headed to the Tree of Life instead and headed off Ora, Chuluun, and Makucha. Beshte and Ono worked together to defeat Ora.[3]

Attack on Varya[]

Ha! You missed.
―Ora taunts Anga and Ono[src]

Mama Binturong led her army in an attack on a tiger named Varya and her cubs, who were seeking sanctuary at the Tree of Life. The Lion Guard and the Night Pride arrived and saved the tigers from further harm. Ora was defeated by Fuli, who jumped on his back.[4]

Sunset attack[]

We should attack now.
―Ora[src]

Ora and his allies launched an attack on the Tree of Life. The Night Pride challenged them, though Baliyo's yawning exposed how exhausted they were from a night of patrolling. The Lion Guard arrived in time to help, but Kion and Rani's dual leadership resulted in confusion.

Ora is defeated by Bunga's stink.

Eventually, the Lion Guard and the Night Pride succeeded in driving off the army. Kion offered to patrol the Tree of Life during the day in order to give the Night Pride time to rest, and Rani gratefully accepted his offer. Unbeknownst to the team, Mama Binturong was spying on their conversation from a nearby tree.

Later, Mama Binturong schemed with her allies against the Lion Guard and the Night Pride, and ordered her army to attack in-between shifts at sunset. Ullu warned the Lion Guard that Ora and his allies were launching another attack. The Night Pride arrived, and Kion led the two teams in their attack. The teams succeeded, with Ora getting defeated first by Bunga's stink, then by Baliyo and Surak.[5]

Battle for the Tree of Life[]

Dragons, with me!
―Ora rallies his minions[src]
Triumph91

Ora gains new allies through Mama Binturong's efforts.

Ora and his allies snuck into the Tree of Life due to Ullu falling asleep. The Night Pride arrived, only for the Lion Guard to take over the shift and defeat the army.

After the army's failure, Mama Binturong brought in new allies, including Fahari, Jiona, two Komodo dragons, and Smun and his prickle. Ora was delighted to see his old friends. The army launched their attack. Though Ullu attempted to warn the Night Pride, Mama Binturong captured her and tasked Smun and his prickle with keeping her incapacitated. However, Ullu scared off Smun by turning her head completely backward and managed to escape.

Triumph298

Ora and his minions prevent Beshte from freeing the Night Pride.

Ullu warned the Night Pride about the army's attack, and they rushed to the Tree of Life, only to be shut in by a giant rock pushed by Ora and his minions. With the Night Pride out of commission, the army attacked the animals at the Tree of Life. Shortly afterward, the Lion Guard arrived, having been warned by Ullu, and resolved to free the Night Pride from the army's trap.

Kion, Bunga, and Rani arrived, and Kion used the Roar of the Elders to defeat the villains. He then struck the rock at the Tree of Life's entrance with lightning, destroying it and freeing the Night Pride. Finally, Kion swept Ora and his allies into a tornado, which sent them far away from the Tree of Life.[6]

Physical appearance[]

Ora is a large and powerfully built Komodo dragon. He has pale green skin, with a dark green back, a tan underbelly, brown legs, and black claws. He has several dark spots on his back and sides. His eyes are black with yellow sclerae.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Oh, no. Not the Roar!
―Ora expresses his fear of the Roar of the Elders[src]

Ora is aggressive, brutish, and merciless. He takes pleasure in hunting and likes to play with his food.[1] Due to his hubris and raw physical power, he believes himself to be worthy of authority and dislikes taking orders from others. Since his encounter with Kion, he has developed an intense fear of the Roar of the Elders, which often causes him to flee in a panic.[2][6]

Trivia[]

Ora blood

In the original cut of "The Lake of Reflection", Ora spit out blood.

  • Ora is similar to Kenge from The Lion Guard; both are giant venomous lizards who do not like taking orders from others.[9]
  • In the original version of "The Lake of Reflection", Ora spat out blood after being attacked by Bunga's stink. The episode has since been edited so that Ora merely spits out saliva.[5]
