Kiril and his herd gathered with several other animals outside the Tree of Life as Janna lay dying. Eventually, the Night Pride emerged from the Tree of Life, and Makini announced the queen's death to the crowd.
Later, Rani took Varya and her cubs to Kiril's territory so that the tigers might have a place to stay. Before long, Kiril approached and asked who Varya was, to which she revealed that she and her cubs would be his neighbors. Perturbed, Kiril drew Rani aside and asked her if she thought tigers living with his herd was a good idea. Rani replied that the tiger family knew the Tree of Life's rules, but Kiril questioned if she knew the rules. Rani admitted that she was still learning, then assured Kiril that Varya would not violate the Circle of Life. At last, Kiril relented and decreed that the tigers were welcome in his territory. He then advised the family to take up residence in a nearby clearing.
That night, Kiril attended Rani's coronation.[1]
Physical appearance[]
Kiril is a large, tall, and well-built musk deer. He has a reddish-brown main pelt, with brown fur on his backside, ears, face, neck, and lower legs. There is a patch of darker brown fur on the tip of his muzzle and a patch of creamish-gray fur on his lower jaw and inner neck. Like most musk deer, he has a black nose, two white tusks, and hooves. His eyes are brown and framed by pale gray eye rims and heavy black eyebrows.[1]
Personality and traits[]
Kiril is apprehensive of predators, as he was initially against Varya's family moving into his territory. However, he is even-tempered and polite, and delivers his complaints with tact. Ultimately, despite his misgivings, he respects Rani's authority and is willing to welcome in outsiders.[1]
