"Elephant Graveyard" is a musical piece composed by Hans Zimmer for The Lion King. It was unofficially released as part of The Lion King (Complete Score).
Use[]
In the soundtracks[]
"Elephant Graveyard" was unofficially released as part of the complete film score.
On June 24, 2014, The Legacy Collection: The Lion King was released, with "Elephant Graveyard" having been remixed and released under the same title, "Elephant Graveyard".
In the film[]
As its name suggests, "Elephant Graveyard" can be heard during the scene in which Simba and Nala visit the Elephant Graveyard. The track picks up as Simba and Nala are startled by a geyser and carries through their rescue from the hyenas by Mufasa. The score ends as Scar watches the cubs leave from a high ledge.
Behind the scenes[]
- The primary chase music played during the score is repeated in a later score, "Mufasa's Dead".
- In a story reel for The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, "Elephant Graveyard" serves as background music for Kovu catching a bug.[1]
- The score's cue in the film is "3M6 'Elephant Graveyard'".
