Dirisha (also known as the River of Patience) is a river near the Tree of Life. It is an area used frequently for healing.
When Kion sought healing for his scar at the Tree of Life, Nirmala led him to Dirisha and instructed him to fetch a flower from the opposite bank. However, in order to do so, she required him to jump on a passing log, ride it to a sandy bank on the opposite shore, then climb a trail to the flower. After several failed attempts to reach the flower, Kion finally had enough patience to jump on a log, reach the sandy bank, and climb the trail to successfully fetch the flower for Nirmala.
History[]
Kion's healing journey[]

Upon his arrival at the Tree of Life, Kion requested healing for his scar, and Queen Janna assigned Nirmala to be his healer. Nirmala, in turn, led Kion to Dirisha, describing it as "the River of Patience." He questioned if Dirisha would heal his scar and help him control the Roar of the Elders, and she explained that it would be the first of many steps on his journey of healing.
Nirmala then pointed out a flower that was on a cliff on the opposite shore and instructed Kion to fetch it for her. Though he started to head off, she told him that he must follow her specific instructions: wait for a log to float down the river, hop onto it, ride it to a sandy bank on the opposite shore, then take a winding path to the top of the ridge. Kion worried that it might take days for a log to pass, to which Nirmala replied that they would wait for days then.

As Kion waited, he remarked that he could have waited for logs back in the Pride Lands. Nirmala countered that Rafiki had sent him to the Tree of Life to be healed. At that moment, a log passed, but Kion was too impatient and ended up falling off it. Though Nirmala encouraged him to keep waiting, Rani ran up and implored Nirmala to help the Night Pride deal with a problem. While the lionesses left together, Kion remained at Dirisha.
Shortly afterwards, the rest of the Lion Guard approached Kion, and Fuli wondered if the Night Pride could use their help. Reckoning that they might, Kion led his team away from Dirisha.

Later, as Kion and Nirmala waited for a log, Kion declared that he would have the flower and be back already if he had done it his way. Nirmala simply urged him to let her guide him, as Janna had said. Just then, another log floated by, but Kion once more failed to land squarely on it. This time, he resolved to do it his own way, only to discover that the current was strong. At the same time, Nirmala rode the log to the sandy shore and began to follow the trail toward the flower. Kion tried to climb straight up the slope and ended up falling.
Nirmala jumped down to join Kion, who asked why she had not fetched the flower. She answered that this was his task, not hers. She then advised him to get some sleep while she patrolled with the Night Pride, for he was going to try again the next day.
Kion successfully crosses Dirisha.
Come morning, Kion and Nirmala returned to Dirisha. A log soon floated down the river, and Kion used patience to jump squarely onto it without falling off. As he floated down the river, however, Ullu approached and informed Nirmala that Makucha's army was attacking. Though Kion volunteered to help the Night Pride defeat the invaders, Nirmala ordered him to finish his task first, then departed with Ullu.
As he worked to complete his task, Kion spotted the Night Pride fighting Makucha's army. Determined to do as Nirmala had requested, he fetched his flower first, then ran off to assist his friends. After the predators had been chased off, Kion admitted that the flower had gotten trampled by the battle, but Nirmala countered that he had completed the task, which was the real point. Bunga and Rani wondered if this meant that Kion was healed, to which he guessed that there was more for him to do. Nirmala concurred, explaining that he had taken the first step but still had a long way to go.[1]
