Darann was a female elephant. She was a member of Ashtaa's herd.
During her senior years, Darann traveled with her herd to an elephants' graveyard. There, she settled down to die, with her niece Ashtaa at her side. However, the two were disrupted by Claws the eagle. Eventually, Claws was scared off, and Darann died peacefully.

When Simba asked where the herd was headed, Ashtaa explained that her mother's sister, Darann, was old and dying. The herd had to reach the elephants' graveyard before Darann's time came. Simba was confused and asked Ashtaa if she would miss her aunt. Ashtaa exclaimed that of course she would but that all living creatures had to accept the inevitable.
Upon reaching the elephants' graveyard, Darann leaned down among the skeletons. Ashtaa lay beside her aunt and stayed with her as she died. Shortly afterward, Claws targeted Darann as his prey and swooped down on the herd. Ashtaa and the other elephants defended the old elephant until the eagle finally flew away. When the situation calmed, Ashtaa found that Darann had died. Simba was sad, but Ashtaa comforted him and told him that Darann was at peace.[1]
Physical appearance[]
Darann was an elderly elephant with gray skin and short ivory tusks. Her age made her considerably weak.[1]
