Crowned is a Dutch comic inspired by The Lion King. It was published on August 10, 2022.[1]
Synopsis[]
One day, Mufasa's pride was lounging around in the Pride Lands under his protection. Nearby, Scar skulked with his three hyena friends: Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. Glaring at his brother from afar, he declared that he should be the king of the Pride Lands. Shenzi questioned why he let Mufasa live, and he explained that Mufasa was too strong for him. However, when Banzai pointed out that Mufasa's son, Simba, was his weak spot, Scar got an idea.
Shortly afterwards, Scar ran up to Mufasa and claimed that Simba was walking near the Crocodile River. Intent on saving his son, Mufasa raced away. Inwardly, Scar gloated over how his brother had taken the bait, reasoning that the crocodiles would finish Mufasa off and eventually Simba as well.
Reaching Pride Rock, Scar informed the pride that Mufasa was being devoured by crocodiles. He started to volunteer himself to become the new king, only for Rafiki to interrupt that Simba was next in line for the throne. Scar protested that a child could not rule, then threatened to eat Rafiki. The mandrill, in turn, claimed that his kind tasted like rotten bananas.
Just then, a watermelon fell on Scar's head, and Mufasa revealed his presence on a ledge above the pride. He announced that Simba had not been in danger; he had simply been eating some delicious watermelon. Scar's hyena friends started to feast on the watermelon themselves, while Scar stumbled away, lamenting his hurt pride and head.
