Eat them or fight Claudius, the most bloodthirsty, undefeated, gladiating lion in all of the Colosseum!
Quint introduces Claudius to Simba[src]

Claudius is a male lion.

When Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba were sent to Rome, Colosseum Quintius tried to force Simba to eat Timon and Pumbaa. Simba refused, and so Quint ordered him to participate in a battle to the death with Claudius. Timon and Pumbaa made three attempts to get Claudius to forfeit the fight, all of which ended in failure. However, when Claudius prepared to fight Simba, he fell asleep due to the duo having kept him awake all night.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Claudius lived in a Colosseum in Rome. He became a gladiator champion due to winning many battles against other lions.[1]

Gladiator fight with Simba[]

RA Claudius3

Claudius roars.

When Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba ran into each other after being captured and taken to the Roman Colosseum, they planned to leave the arena. However, they were stopped by Colosseum Quintius, who tried to force Simba to eat Timon and Pumbaa, or else he would have to fight Claudius.

In order to avoid getting eaten by Simba or else having their friend die in a battle, Timon hatched a plan to make it seem like Simba was eating them. The plan, however, backfired, as Simba was forced to spit his friends out of his mouth after Pumbaa inadvertently passed gas.

RA Timon & Claudius4

Timon tries to convince Claudius to forfeit the fight with Simba.

Exposed for their trickery, Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba beat a hasty retreat and managed to escape the stadium, with Quint in pursuit. After a long chase that culminated in both groups using chariots, the trio managed to leave Quint behind. Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba then tried to find a way out of Rome. Before they could, Quint captured Simba and prepared for him to fight Claudius to the death the next day.

RA Simba & Claudius3

Claudius prepares to fight Simba.

Unable to free Simba from his imprisonment, Timon and Pumbaa devised a plan to make Claudius forfeit his fight with Simba instead. Later that night, while visiting the lion's den, both Timon and Pumbaa came up with various ways to make their plan work, such as asking favors, blackmailing, and teeth extraction, all of which ended in failure.

The next day, Simba and Claudius entered the Colosseum. Just as both lions were gearing up to fight, Claudius fell asleep, much to the audience's surprise and frustration. It was then revealed that while Timon and Pumbaa had not been able to get Claudius to forfeit the fight, their attempts to make him forfeit had kept him awake all night. Enraged that Claudius would not fight and that Simba still refused to eat Timon and Pumbaa, Quint decided to fight the trio himself.[1]

Physical appearance[]

Claudius is a large, broad-shouldered, and powerfully built lion. He has brown fur, with a dark mane, gray claws, and a cream chest, muzzle, and paws. His eyes are black.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Claudius is mean and vicious. According to Quint, he is a bloodthirsty, undefeated, and gladiating lion who has never lost a fight in his life.[1]

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • Claudius bears a striking resemblance to Scar; both are male lions with dark brown fur and a black mane.[4]
