Relationship information

What are you talking about? He's Beshte! Strongest in the Pride Lands.

Chura is a female frog.

Early life

Chura lived in the Pride Lands.[1]

Wet season

Thanks for the ride, Beshte.

Chura rides on Beshte as he makes hippo lanes across the Flood Plains.

When Basi got injured while creating hippo lanes, his son Beshte volunteered to take over the job. As the young hippopotamus began his new task, he was joined by several small animals, including Laini, a female wagtail, a male aardvark, and Chura. After Beshte proved his great strength by charging through an enormous boulder, the wagtail admitted that she was not sure whether or not Beshte could handle the feat. Chura was quick to defend Beshte, however, reminding the wagtail of his status as the strongest in the Pride Lands. Chura then told Beshte to ignore the wagtail's comments, saying that he was doing a "dandy" job.

Shortly afterward, Chura noticed that Beshte was traveling in the opposite direction of her destination. She asked Beshte to turn around, and he kindly obliged. Laini also requested that Beshte drop her off at Ndefu Grove, and he agreed. Once again, Chura reminded them all that since Beshte was the strongest animal in the Pride Lands, he would not mind. Beshte was humbled by this. Eventually, he delivered Chura to her destination, and she thanked him before hopping away.[1]

Dry season

Chura followed Ma Tembo as she searched for water.[2]

Physical appearance

Chura is a small frog with olive-green skin and a pale green underbelly. She has a large head with round yellow eyes and a few dark spots on her back.[1]

Personality and traits

Chura is confident and somewhat cocky, taking pride in her knowledge. She is quick to defend what she believes in, but is also not afraid to speak up if something is going awry. Despite her outspokenness, Chura is courteous and polite, as seen when she thanked Beshte for a ride across the Flood Plains.[1]

  • Chura's name means "frog, toad" in Swahili.[4]
