Timon: The point is, Christmas is a wonderful day when we all get presents!
Pumbaa: It's more like a time to be with your friends and family. It's all about the spirit of giving!

Timon decorates an acacia tree for Christmas.

Christmas is an annual celebration in which animals gather together and participate in gift-giving. Its arrival is signified by the shining of a certain large star. On Christmas Day, a mysterious creature known as Dandy Claws will come to give gifts, provided everyone performs a special song beneath a tree, which is typically decorated with fruit and topped with a star.

Timon and Pumbaa brought Christmas to the Pride Lands after hearing of it from a different animal and celebrating it among themselves for a few years. Since then, Christmas has been annually celebrated by Pride Landers, with Rafiki even teaching his apprentice Makini about it in order to preserve the tradition.[1]

Legacy in the Pride Lands[]

Pumbaa: But you said Christmas was all about gifts.
Timon: And we got gifts. Look! Berries, bugs, fruit! But we also got lots of friends. And family. All right here. And they're the best gifts anybody could ask for.

Pumbaa dresses up as Dandy Claws.

While teaching Makini about the traditions of the Pride Lands, Rafiki told her a story about Christmas. One year, Timon and Pumbaa attempted to celebrate Christmas in the Pride Lands in the hopes of summoning Dandy Claws. Timon lamented how year after year, Dandy Claws did not bring them presents, as they were repeatedly unable to perform the proper ritual. However, the Lion Guard decided to put together the ritual themselves, and Pumbaa dressed up as Dandy Claws, much to Timon's delight.[1]
