Know of anyone who abandoned their post?
―The Captain of the Guard to Timon[src]

The Captain of the Guard is a male meerkat. He is the Captain of the Guard of the Duke Meerkat's colony.

When Timon abandoned his guard post, a cobra infiltrated the Duke Meerkat's colony and kidnapped Princess Tatiana. Fred pointed out that no one ever got through the back gate, and the Captain of the Guard realized that Timon was missing. Upon learning that Timon had abandoned his post, the Captain of the Guard and his fellow guards attempted to capture Timon.

Biography[]

Early life[]

The Captain of the Guard lived within or close by the jungle as a member of the Duke Meerkat's colony. At some point in his life, he became the Captain of the Guard of his colony. His duty was to guard the kingdom's front gate.[1]

Tatiana's capture[]

One day, the Duke Meerkat left his colony, and Fred was temporarily put in charge. As the Duke Meerkat exited the front gate, the Captain of the Guard saluted him. Meanwhile, Fred convinced the back gate guard, Timon, that, with the Duke Meerkat gone, it was his chance to go on a date with the princess, Tatiana. After thinking over Fred's suggestion, Timon used a mop as a dummy to make it seem like the back gate was being guarded so that he could speak with Tatiana. However, while he was preparing for his date, a cobra passed through the unguarded back gate and kidnapped the princess.

The Captain of the Guard notices Timon's absence.

After the invasion, the meerkats gathered near the castle and found Fred holding Tatiana's tiara, which was covered in red paint. This led them to believe that the princess had perished in the cobra's attack. The Captain of the Guard questioned how the invasion could have happened, and Fred pointed out that no one ever got through the back gate. This made the Captain of the Guard realize that Timon was not with the other guards.

Upon traveling to the back gate, the guards found the mop in Timon's place and realized that he had abandoned his guard post. The meerkats promptly gathered around Timon's cave. Before long, Timon came out, prepared for his date with Tatiana. However, in the face of his colony's suspicions, he fled, and the guards gave chase. Though Timon managed to escape the guards, he ran into the Duke Meerkat, who, having heard about the cobra attack, banished him from the colony.[1]

Physical appearance[]

The Captain of the Guard is of a moderate height and skinny. He has orange-tinged brown fur, with a white underbelly and dark stripes on his back. He has a black nose and black eyes with yellow sclerae. Like the other meerkat guards, he wears a gray hat with a green plant on top. Being the captain, he wears golden arm cuffs.[1]

Personality and traits[]

The Captain of the Guard is exceptionally strict and serious. He does not tolerate a guard abandoning his post, especially if the result is disastrous and tragic.[1]
