Boaris is a male warthog. He is the uncle of Pumbaa.
When Pumbaa and his best friend, Timon, visited Boaris, Timon accidentally got Boaris seriously injured shortly before his final ballet performance. As a result, Boaris suggested that Pumbaa take his place onstage. Since Pumbaa did not know how to ballet dance, he could not pull off the performance well, and Boaris had to join him onstage at the last moment. Impressed by his uncle's performance, Pumbaa asked Boaris if he had recovered, only for Boaris's body to fall to pieces before Pumbaa's eyes.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Boaris lived in Russia. As a young warthog, he was the principal dancer in the Royal Boarshoi ballet. However, as his performances became less and less successful, he decided to give a farewell performance and retire.[1]
Final ballet performance[]
Timon and Pumbaa traveled to Russia to meet Boaris. Along the way, Pumbaa told Timon that he wanted to make a good impression on his uncle. When the friends arrived at Boaris's home, Boaris accidentally smashed Timon with his front door and mistook the meerkat for a muffler. However, Pumbaa informed his uncle that the "muffler" was actually his best friend.
Boaris delivers his final ballet performance.
After giving Timon and Pumbaa a tight hug, Boaris informed them that his ballet shows were no longer as successful as they had once been but that he was planning on delivering a final performance the next day. However, while Boaris practiced for his show, he slipped on the caviar that Timon had thrown on the floor and fell down a long stairway, breaking every bone in his body. As a result, he ended up in the hospital and suggested to Pumbaa that he fill in for him at the ballet performance.
When Pumbaa failed to follow in his uncle's footsteps at a performance of Swine Lake, Timon stalled for time by doing a stand-up comedy act. Suddenly, the audience cheered because Boaris, supposedly fully recovered, appeared onstage. At the end of Boaris's act, the audience praised the performance. Pumbaa asked Boaris how he had recovered so fast, and his uncle replied that he had not recovered at all, and his body cracked into pieces.[1]
Physical appearance[]
Boaris is a large and portly warthog, with an abnormally large head. He has warty pale green skin, a darker green underbelly, and disheveled black eyebrows. He also has a bushy black mustache and black eyes. He wears a lavender shirt and a Russian shapka ushanka.[1]

Boaris is friendly and sociable, and likes to greet his company with tight hugs. Pumbaa has described Boaris as the "kindest, sweetest, most gentlest warthog you've ever met." Boaris is particularly good at ballet and has earned many awards and certificates for his performances.[1]
