If you've haven't read any new articles on this yet, due to Disney's 100th anniversary, 8 films will be re-released in select theaters between July October, including The Lion King 1994.

TLK will be in theaters starting at September 29th-October 12th (found on a Twitter post). Hopefully, this applies to your theaters, but I know they'll be at mine. I'm so excited for it and already marked it on my calendar!
Recently the NY Times did an interview with the president of Walt Disney Studios and he said he would like the Lion King Universe to become something as big as the Star Wars franchise

So, I learned today that Dynamite Entertainment is releasing a comic about Scar this April! It will purportedly focus on the origins of his plan to murder Mufasa and how that brought him face to face with Rafiki.
I'm curious if this comic will deviate from The Lion Guard or if it will fit into canon. Since it's a comic and not "official" in any capacity, it can't exactly be considered a canon installment in the franchise. But it's still interesting to see a new take on Scar's backstory!
What do you all think? Are you excited, or have you read enough versions of Scar's backstory?
Happy New Year to everyone here at The Lion King Wiki! As we launch into 2023, we have some exciting developments happening both here on the wiki and in the fandom at large. See below for some highlights:
Upcoming content: As most of you probably know, a new prequel film centered on Mufasa and Scar's childhood will be releasing in mid-2024. We expect there to be new announcements related to the film (maybe even a trailer!) coming this year. Make sure to keep up with the latest news by visiting our article on the film as well as our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
New wiki projects: A continuation of a project from last year, we are currently reverting all our articles to conform to the common wiki standard, i.e. a biography format with references for each section. As of right now, I've completed most of the character articles, and Pinkpeony has done most of the event articles. If you'd like to help with this project, please contact an admin or leave a message on this thread.
Technical updates: Thanks to Pinkpeony, we have a brand new dark theme to go with the new year! Make sure to check it out and give her some love for the design.
We look forward to making new memories, expanding our wiki database, and exploring new content together as a fandom. Hakuna matata!

So, I don't know if anyone else knew this beforehand, but Disneyland Paris released a new album of Lion King songs in September! The music is really good, and they even do some cool mix-ups of songs (like "Endless Night" and "He Lives In You"). You can either listen to the whole album via our articles or this YouTube playlist. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. :D

Exciting news! For a long time, a story circulated around the fandom that Simba and Nala had a son named Chaka in an early draft of Simba's Pride. However, the evidence was scant, as we only had a few screenshots of emails as evidence. Now, thanks to some digging by @DisneyFan202, we have some pages of the official scripts that confirm Chaka as a deleted character!

There is a rumor floating around that Disney+ will launch a new series based on the 2019 film featuring Timon and Pumbaa. You can check out the link here. Personally, I’m not a huge Timon and Pumbaa fan, but any series would be better than nothing!

Ford Riely said that he was working on the scripts for a season 4/new series but something went wrong with one of the settings of the Lion Guard so he's canceling it.

I just found out that South African actor Andile Gumbi passed away today at the age of 36.
