Bartholomew is a minor character from The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa who appears in the episode "Shake Your Djibouti."

Appearance

Bartholomew is a 40-foot tall monster that has red eyes, the head of a bull, the comb of a rooster, the fangs of a snake, the body of a bear (with purple fur), the feet of a primate, and a tail whose animal is unidentifiable. Despite being a monster, he is often labeled as a "Wild Animal."

"Shake Your Djibouti"

Bartholomew was an scientific experiment created by Dr. Happy. Bartholomew used to live with the doctor for an unknown period of time until he had escaped from his laboratory, where he would live a lost and lonely lifestyle in the jungle.

Eventually, Timon and Pumbaa heard of Bartholomew's escape from Dr. Happy's lab, and in a fit of paranoia, proceeded to snap Simba into shape in the hopes of having him defend them from the monster, should Bartholomew ever come across the Trio. During one of their training methods, Timon had Pumbaa dress up as the monster, only to mistake the real Bartholomew for Pumbaa during training, where the monster attacked them.

Simba and Bartholomew proceed to fight as Timon and Pumbaa flee the scene. After a short fight however, Simba "emerges" victorious when he confronts Timon and Pumbaa and explains to them Bartholomew's story. Feeling sympathetic for the monster, Simba offers to Bartholomew if he wanted to be friends with him, Timon, and Pumbaa (much to Timon's discomfort), to which Bartholomew shyly agrees. Later at night, the four animals proceed to sing "Hakuna Matata," mimicking the infamous scene in the film. Bartholomew's weight, however, is too much for the log to support all four of them, and then breaks while Bartholomew is crossing it, causing Bartholomew and the trio to comically fall down it.
