But it was your idea that saved my mother. And you were so brave. Simba, you'll be a great lion one day.
―Bahati praises Simba[src]

Bahati is a female giraffe.

During a storm, Bahati's mother Sukari got trapped on an island. With the help of her friends Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, Bahati built a raft and used it to rescue her mother. Afterward, Sukari gave birth to a newborn son, much to Bahati's delight.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Bahati was born to Sukari. She lived in the jungle.[1]

Rescuing Sukari[]

While Simba, Timon and Pumbaa were resting, Bahati approached, wanting to play. They agreed, and Timon and Simba took turns sliding down Bahati's neck, bouncing off Pumbaa's stomach, and jumping into the river. While they were playing, Bahati announced that her mother would be having a baby soon, and Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba reacted with happiness.

Suddenly, lightning cracked nearby, and it started to rain. Frightened, Simba noticed that the rainwater was rapidly getting deeper and realized that it was going to flood. Taking charge, he instructed his friends to get to higher ground. Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and Bahati fled for the hills and were soon joined by many other animals who were taking the same path. Suddenly, Bahati realized that her mother was not present. She remembered that she had last seen her mother by the river, and so she and her friends rushed off to look for her.

On their way, the four friends were approached by a hippopotamus, who told Bahati that her mother was on an island in the middle of the river. Timon, Pumbaa, Simba, and Bahati then found Bahati's mother, Sukari, exactly where the hippopotamus had said she would be: trapped on an island. Timon, Pumbaa, and Bahati panicked, but Simba had an idea. He suggested that they build a raft. The friends agreed and quickly got to work. Bahati located some vines, while Timon and Pumbaa gathered tree trunks.

Meanwhile, Simba kept an eye on the steadily rising river. Working together, the four animals managed to tie the raft together and push it into the water. Simba and Bahati climbed on, and the raft bounced, slowly but surely, toward the disappearing island. Once they were close, Simba grabbed the end of a vine that was attached to the raft in his teeth and jumped onto the island. Then he and Sukari pulled the raft closer to the edge of the island. Soon, it landed safely on the opposite shore.

Once to safety, Sukari entered labor. Timon suggested that she have her baby in a nearby cave, and Sukari accepted, entering the cave. Time passed, during which the rain slowed and other animals joined Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and Bahati in waiting for the birth of Sukari's baby. While they were waiting, Simba hung his head in shame, saying that if he had understood clouds, he would have known the storm was coming and Sukari never would have been in danger in the first place. Bahati comforted him, assuring him that he was very brave and would be a great lion someday. Timon and Pumbaa added that he was also a good friend. Just then, the animals around the cave cheered for joy, and Bahati and her friends rushed inside. They found Sukari with a newborn son, whom Bahati was overjoyed to see. Sukari then thanked Simba for saving her and her son.

The four friends then left, so as to let Sukari and her son rest. Timon suggested a celebration of grubs, but Simba declined, saying that he had to keep an eye on the clouds lest it start to rain again. Timon scoffed, reminding Simba that his paw was not wet. Suddenly, Pumbaa jumped into the river again, and Timon's paw was soaked. At first, the meerkat was furious, but then he shrugged and stated, "When it rains, it 'boars.'" This elicited laughter from his friends.[1]

Physical appearance[]

Bahati is a small giraffe. She has bright yellow fur with brown spots. Her mane, muzzle, and tail tip are brown, while her inner ears are pale yellow. She has long lashes, which frame big black eyes.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Bahati is kind and cares for others, as seen when she expressed great concern for the safety of her mother and when she appeared greatly overjoyed at the sight of her newborn brother. She is also quite playful, allowing Simba and Timon to slide down her back and laughing heartily when Pumbaa soaked Timon by jumping into the river.[1]
