—Babu and Simba on Babu's artwork[src]

Babu is a mandrill. They are one of Rafiki's pupils.

When Simba wanted to hide from Zazu, he asked Babu to paint zebra stripes on him. Babu did as requested, and Simba briefly joined a zebra herd. Later, Babu painted leopard spots on Nala, which enabled her to play a trick on Simba.

Babu and Simba

Babu paints zebra stripes on Simba.

Babu sat among a group of young mandrills who were taking a painting lesson from Rafiki. When the lesson was over, Simba approached Babu and asked them for help. The young mandrill got a bowl of Rafiki's paint and colored zebra stripes on Simba's fur. They later painted leopard spots on Nala.[1]

Physical appearance[]

Babu is somewhat small, likely due to their youth. They have blue-gray fur, with a white chest, a ring of gray fur around their face, and black eyes. Like all mandrills, Babu has distinctive blue eye markings and a bright red nose.[1]
