@BungaFangirl123 um...
He helped introduce the concept of the Lion Guard.
He listened to Kion's worries about the mashindano between Makuu and Pua, and attended both that one and the one between Makuu and Kiburi.
He attended Aminifu's funeral.
He presides over the Kupatana Celebration and helps frighten off the jackals.
He traverses several underground tunnels with and without Bunga.
He welcomes Ajabu to the Pride Lands, and advises the Lion Guard about the aardwolves after they accidentally drive them from the Pride Lands.
He dispatched Kion and the Guard to see King Sokwe, and presumably took charge of keeping peace in the Pride Lands while they were absent.
He acted as temporary leader of the Lion Guard when Kion was away for his Udugu ceremony with Kiara and Nala.
He arranged a ceremony to honor the arrival of Hadithi.
He presided over the Savannah Summit, including inviting Makuu despite past hostilities, and acted to keep the peace despite tensions between leaders.
With the exception of the last one, that all took place in season one. It hardly seems like Simba does "nothing" in the series. Maybe he's not as dynamic as Kion in the show, but he's not supposed to be-that's what the Lion Guard is for. If it seems like he doesn't too much, perhaps it's because Mufasa was so active in The Lion King-however, it must be remembered that Mufasa had to take up the slack for a Lion Guard that had ceased to exist when Scar took out his comrades and lost the power of the Roar.
He means like kingly decisions @Kilmarnock228. Kion made all of those decisions. And although the Lion Guard are the defenders of the Pride Lands, Simba makes the decisions. For example, when Kion formed the army against Scar, Simba would need to approve this. Kion being leader of the Lion Guard is like being chief of the police, or the highest general in the army. You can't just declare war on someone. And the whole perfect thing makes Kion a boring character, he had no personality and the only reason he didn't lose any fight was because of the Roar of the Elders
@PresidentDVD you're assuming that Simba didn't approve Kion's decisions first. I would guess that Kion ran major decisions like that past his dad, but that the animators didn't show us scenes like that. Talking of boring, what could be more boring than repeated instances of Kion being like "Hey dad, we should do this." and Simba effectively replying "Good idea son, nice chat." It just streamlines the story to have Kion make the decision without seeing that he also gets Simba's ok on things.
If Kion seems to have no personality, well, that's a pretty common trend with main characters in different franchises. They lack personality so that they can serve as a lens for the audience into the world that they inhabit-it's the same situation as Frodo Baggins, or Luke Skywalker, or Harry Potter. It's even harder for Kion because this was, after all, a show aimed at young children, and they could only go so far with regards to the intensity of storylines. I found his worries about whether he could responsibly use the Roar and avoid turning out like Scar quite sympathetic. I also don't think that every protagonist needs the kind of complexes Simba and Kovu had-one believing himself responsible for killing his dad, the other feeling compelled to kill another lion-in order to be interesting; the whole dark and broody thing is way over done in pop culture.
Anywho, bottom line is that I think Kion is an okay character, and you don't-and there's nothing wrong with either.:D
I understand for every little decisions, but for major decisions. Kion deciding to fight off a random attack by Janja, we don't need to see Simba saying okay. But, the making the Pride Lander army is something that Simba should have been seen approving it. And, unlike Frodo or Luke, Kion has a "messiah complex", it appears in the show that Kion tries to fix everything. Frodo and Luke are shown to have flaws, deep flaws.
I definitely despise Zira, Nuka, Janja, Cheezi, Chungu, Nne, Tano, Reirei, Kiburi, Goigoi, Dogo, Kenge, Mpishi, Ushari, Sumu, Mzingo, Mwoga, Tamka, and Nduli because they’re always making bad choices.
@Anthone798 wow, you just named pretty much all of my favorite charcters xD
Ok, my least favorite characters are Shenzi, Nuka, Tiifu, Zuri, Thurston, and the other hyenas in general.
And here's why...note: most of these reasons are me being biased:
Nuka: probably my least favorite character of all time because I never got his humor and in my opinion, he didn't make a huge impact other than his death. Nuka always drives me crazy when he's on-screen. However, I still feel for him.
Tiifu and Zuri: they tend to give off that girly girl TV trope that is too typical these days. Tiifu acts too weak at times, and Zuri is a bit "stuck-up". I also kind of think that they could be bad role models to Kiara.
Thurston: coz he mainly annoys the other characters and panic 'n run 24/7 XD!
Finally, Shenzi and the hyenas are up on my list because I'm biased towards Timon, Pumbaa, and the colony in TLK 1.5. It was so saddening to see the hyenas to take down the meerkats and how they tried to eat Timon and Pumbaa, my favorite characters in the whole franchise.
Oh my, I forgot about Tifu and Zuri. They're definately on my list of least favourite characters.
I agree with Tiifu and Zuri, Thurston was too extreme @HakunaMatata1214 But, I always liked the hyenas in the original movies (I despised them in the remake). I see why you don't like them, but I never dislike characters if they are in-universe good or evil, I dislike them for reasons that you gave Nuka.
@PresidentDVD Yes, I like the hyenas in the original and in the lion guard, but I did not like them in the remake
What do you think?
